G35 Coupe

Hey guys I was reading an Automobile mag while I was getting my tires balanced yesterday about the G35 coupe. Anyways they were comparing it to the 330ci manual and the 6 sp. G35 had some close performance numbers. I was researching this morning and I think a fully loaded G35 with navi,6 sp.,18" wheels with 223/40 in front and 245/40 in rear with Brembo brakes will be costing 32,700. If this is true I'll sell my CL this year and save for the G35 for next year.

$32,700 sounds a bit low... At least from what I've read.

Actually, the November C&D has it estimated between 30K and 35K, so you're not that far off.

I'd still get the 330Ci over the G35C...

I'd wait at least a year or two until they shake the bugs out.

I was thinking the same but if the CL gets discontinued I think the CL resale might suffer a bit. Anything that gets discontinued in the customer's perception means that it is not a good product.

If you're worried about resale, then don't get an Infiniti. Granted the G-series hasn't hasn't been around long enough to determine what the resale will be, but if history proves itself the G35C will depreciate horribly. I'm unsure why an Infiniti doesn't hold it's value, but that the WRONG car to buy if that's what you're looking for.

Infinity resale

Just take an older Lexus LS400 vs. Q45 from 1993 or 1994 for example.

Look at their depreciation over 5 years and that's why you wouldn't buy an infinity.

The G-series and the entire re-vamp of the Nissan/infinity line might help this matter.. but its a wait-and-see game now!

One word "lease"........I'm glad I leased the CL, completely worthless resale value.

I wouldn't say worthless.. Better than most of the cars on the road. Look at most American cars resale values (minus the Vette/Viper)

Actually the market is flooded with used C5 vettes (and there are ones on the road everywhere these days) so the resale can be pretty low on those too.

The 1st gen Viper... now there's one that I don't see the resale going down on anytime soon, especially with the mediocre reviews of the new gen.

I doubt that. the nissan 300z, and the Toyota Supra were both discontinued. Didn't effect their resale any...at least you would know they wouldn't come out with a new one...making yours the 'old' model.

i liove my cl-s but i would trade it in a heart beat for the g35 coupe. i had 2 maximas before my cl and i loved them, but wanted a 2 door for a change of pace. i think the G is classy and is goin to be a unbelievable car and will destry the cl-s sales and piossibly the accord and Z to. Cant wait to drive the G and Z and even the 2003 maxima as well.

Why is anyone worried about resale value? If you buy any new car you are going to take a big hit and it's not likely any modern car will be a collector car anyway. Buy a house if you are worried about resale value.
As for Nissan, I keep hearing people from a variety of car boards bad mouth them in terms of overall quality. I haven't heard anything specific of course but maybe there is some issue there. I have also heard specific complaints about fit and finish in the G35 and 350Z interiors. Shifter boots coming loose, the NAV cover coming off, interior panels working loose, etc.

our resale value is not that bad!

2001's are still selling at up to 24k

thats not bad at all for a 30K EVEN car.

you cant compare it to 38K cars resale just cuz their in the 30k class.

our resale is not bad at all... its plumb average.

Hey there Adam

Adam, is right, the resale value on the CLs are a bit better than avg or at least Avg....The Tl on the other hand has definitely stronger resale value which can be attributed to other factors

But like Beltfed stated, leasing is the best way to go especially 4 cars such as the cL or other 2dr coupes not having a lexus, bmw and benz emblem on the hood

Consumer Reports rates cars resale values. I remember seeing that the Acura CL/TL line had excelent resale value.

Stop by a bookstore and take a look.

Guys, remember the Legend. Thoose cars still sell at a premium and they are discontinued. Regardless, the G35 coupe looks very nice. I just can't get past that interior. The orange gauges are ugly. The buttons on the steering wheel looks very cheap. Also, most likley you will have to pay at least msrp, if not more. The CL-S is still a competitive car, maybe Acura will decide to give it a good redesign and bump up the ponies

Well PUT! If Honda/Acura only made the car more sleeker i.e. more like the CL-X concept than I would have no problem along w/ the many others out there w/getting a CL...I think if Acura made the car loook alot sleeker and more expressive (in a good way) people would rather get the Acura over the Infiniti....IMO people would probably be more willing 2 buy an acura than an infiniti

what sucks that I was browsing the new Raod and Track the editor were comparin the new G35-6-speed with the CL-S 5-Auto jsut to show that the G35 will do 14.6 @ 98 MPH while the CLS Auto is 15 @ 95!!

What a low blow the CLS-6 speed is availble since march and it is in the comparo!!!

The CLS-6 should do at leas 14.4-14.6 at 98 MPH but I guess the editor felt that is bad to show 260 HP better than 280 HP . In addition the G35 gets Wide Michelin Pilot Sport and nice set of Brembos

But to be fair... add the Navi on the G35 and you get a nice package... it sucks it has a small trunk, small +2 back seat and small interior... more or less a Boxter competitor not CLS competitor...

on this site at least, the "i'm with stupid" sign means someone is agreeing with you, not that they think you are stupid .
