I'll likely epoxy it, then either try it again or sell it. The other option would be to just cut up the tube part and use it to connect to the factory air box. That would eliminate the big resonator that says nissan on it, but keep a system of mounting the maf that I trust.

yeah, i'm sure that "leak" is what is throwing your codes.
not a lot to go wrong there otherwise.

I am with J. Last time I had a code from the MAF that I thought was an issue with a leak in my intake turned out to be a bad MAF sensor. New one resolved the issue. I don't believe small intake leaks cause issues like they do with O2 sensors on the exhaust side.

Right, but I did change the sensor, In fact I changed it twice in one week because I thought they gave me a bum part. I also Sourced a dryflow air filter. Now with the same sensor and the stock intake there are no codes.

I'm saying that the air leak is the cause.
MAF takes miniscule measurements...a gap
would likely be enough to fuck it up.

This morning was emergency, "my car sounds like it's going to throw something through the floor" u-joint repair day for my friend.

I've actually never replaced one of these newer style u joints that you have to press out. So now I have a tool I made for his to do my own!

Man, every time I see someone working in their shop I think about how awesome it would be to have one to work on my vehicles.

What kind of tool did you fashion? All I see is a vice and needle nose pliers. Or I just don't know what I'm looking for.

I didn't show you because it's such a thing of beuty I thought somebody might want to steal it.

I would have bought one if it weren't short notice, but it's just a u with a bolt that puts pressure on the cross of the joint. That way you don't get stuck if there isn't enough clearance with the whole u joint pushed through. Also it avoids pushing the ears of the yoke together. I watched a hour long youtube video and now I'm a master of the subject (pushes glasses up)

Also I'm sure using it with this thing I'm buying off of a neighbor that is retiring is basically easy mode.

Just some more floating on sand. There are only a couple of places I can get up the dune. It can't go straight up a sandy silty hill like the old side by side could, but once it's up there it's easy going.

I really do need to replace the front fascia now. It's just resting on the bumper at this point. A new one is only like 60 bucks, but I do have a few old kc daylighters that I think will fit in there.

Not really a vehicle update, but for years I've been taking advantage of my neighbor at the shop having a lift I could use in his off hours. We took the gate down between our properties years ago. Well he is retiring and the guys that bought the land bought it to flip as a residential lot (a ton of work, but that is the housing market right now). Anyway I bought the lift for a song, but I only really had a couple days to move it before he closed on the land. Couldn't find but one friend that could help during the weekdays. Disassembly was 3 back to back all day ass kickings.

Couldn't find a manual, It's a Forward 12 k 4 post with. So I had make a 4 page destruction manual.

The same friend that came to help the last day let me use his Kawasaki brute force to make it easier to turn around the trailer in the small space. It's kinda like pushing rope up hill, but it's a hell of a machine. The v-twin actually has plenty of torque for the task.

Now I just have to put it back together. Hopefully with a couple more people.

any of your friends that are mechanically inclined and work on cars would be smart to lend a hand...I have a feeling repayment
for their loyal help would be you extending the same offer the current owner of it did.

It's just been a crappy month for planning. I am able to work whenever but my friends days off are all on the weekends. I had a couple guys ready to go the 1st weekend of the month, but I ended up needing to take my grandpa to mexico. 2nd weekend I was in town but the current owner was setting up his yard sale. And this weekend, well I'm typing this from Mexico again, and the lift had to be out by the 24th.
The one guy that did come to help last night is putting a house he rehabed on the market today and barely found the time get over there. Luckily for me he is the one who has used the lift the most this year and he made it a promise to help me move it.

Got a blend mount for the bullydog.
Still hate the bulleydog. Poor customer service, tunes just make it ping on premium. I do like having the transmission temp gauge for towing, mpg display, and it removes the 80 percent throttle thing.

The blend mount is cool though.;

That thing still looks great...
I finally got my hands dirty with an off-roader and I can say I am so far enjoying it.
Even learned how to get off some rusty hardware.

All my engine swap plans are dependent on the motors exploding, and I don't have a lot of hope for that with japanese cars, but yeah the vq56de does bolt into a xterra.

Heading toward the sierras today. No problems other than being addicted to gasoline. I didn't mention it before because I had the work done and forgot about it, but I had both of the cam position sensors replaced. I had intermittent issue with them throwing a code but only after 4+ hours on the higway. Today was a 10 hour trip and no issues.

Stayed in the back a couple of days in one of the higher Mt. Whitney Campgrounds. Hiked around the surrounding trails and decided I needed to loose another 40 lbs to do the Whitney Hike.
The little BLM/ movie area below was cool though. I think I saw every rock guys were pinned behind in western movie shoot outs.

I think it's called the Alabama hills. There were only a couple trails marked technical 4x4. I tried two of them, but I think a subaru on full send could make it. Anyway it was a cool area.

you can back pretty much any car up here.

There are some short hikes in the area, kinda cool, but this one was named eye of alabama and there was no eye. I have no idea what I was supposed to be looking for.

It was really a cool area, I failed at the hike due to food self harm, but I plan to go back. I also plan to spend a lot more time in death valley, that area was awesome. Not the 80's/90's over use of the word either, it was just awesome.

A friend of mine came by the shop a couple of days before my trip and asked if he could store a engine while he was stationed overseas for a year. OK, sure.

Oh, just a s38 and a 5speed with full engine harness and computer. Not tempting to try to use that for something at all. Maybe he will forget about it.
