A dealership in San Fran has 3 '04 leftovers. Wonder how anxious they are to unload a 2 year old model car which they have 3 of?

I just need some young shmuck from the CL forum to buy my CL-S6 and I'll be set.

Scott they don't list which transmission the car is. How do I tell if it's a 6MT from the VIN?

The Monaros, GTO, and the Chevy all come down the same assembly line. To my knowledge there is no way to get the sequence number as to the order of the GTO'S off the line.
Here is how the vin breaks down.

2 = Pontiac V = V2 Body Style
G = General Motors X = GTO
6 = Asia Pacific Region 1 = 2-door Coupe

6 G 2 V X 1 2 G X 4 L 000001

2 = Number of Air Bags sequential unit number
G = Pontiac GTO 5.7L L = Elizabeth, South Australia
0-9 = Security Digit 4 = 2004

Here is the Plate break down under the hood

MODEL V28VX37-3 00 -3P X
BODY No. 6G2VX12GX4L000001
TRIM 81I A/C C60
PAINT XXXX
BUILT MMMYY SUSP. FE2
ENG. LS1 TRANS M00 AXLE GS9

Model Number Digits: 24=auto 46=manual
Model Number Letter: Interior Code
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
GTO Trim
Paint Code

Build Date
Engine Type
Transmission Type
M30 Automatic
M12 Manual

Air Conditioning Code
Suspension Code

Man, it's gonna be scary in a few years when you can pick up a GTO for like $10k, so many highschool kids will be getting them and killing themselves

No different really than going out and buying a Mustang GT now right?

And high school kids could find a way to kill themselves in a minivan let alone a 400hp car.

have you driven the lgt or sti? its pretty hard for me not to redline in first becuase the g force throwing me back has me reaching for the clutch, plus it gets there immeadatley. granted im stage II, but i dont think it was much easier stock. i dont drive with the gangsta lean either, but i can be bothered switching to granny style everytime i want to take off.

im going to try the money on the dash trick once i get a protune and see if the passenger can grab it. i hope not. prob need a bigger turbo for that though.

i also thought the gto was very heavy which is why the 04s werent as quick as they should have been. the 05s though can run low 13s no?

LGT has a detuned 2.5 from the STI...unless the new WRX got the 2.5 as well, i think they are 2.0 engines.

230-hp 2.5-liter DOHC intercooled, turbocharged boxer engine is the WRX TR

Which is the same engine as in the Leg GT, Fotester Turbo, Tribeca no? De-tuned of course.

New to the WRX for 2006.

or camaro, etc. Hell C5 vettes are already in the high teens. That said, most HS kids won't be able to insure one.

I must say that owning both an sti and a gto the cars are not comparable. The GTO is much more luxurious than the sti. The gto rides much nicer in comparison, but also handles like shit. I have never driven the LGT, but im sure the ride quality and apoointments are on par with the GTO.
