Flood Preparations
Flood Preparations
Well I'm sitting in Houston right now. Looks like I may even have to come into work tomorrow. I'm pretty sure my living quarters will stay dry (I'm up on the Northwest side), but just incase my beloved TL gets hit...
Obviously, don't start while it's sitting in water. But what about if it gets flooded out, how long do I need to wait before I can try to start it again without screwing it? Or will it even start at all again ever?
And say it gets flooded, and it runs okay, but the interior is destroyed. Insurance cover that, I hope? I've got full coverage. Would a destroyed interior/flooded motor on a 2000 TL-P total it out, would that be fixable?

Comprehensive coverage should cover floods if you have that coverage. I would check.
Also why dont you take the time now to park your car on higher ground? Say in a public parking garage on the top floor?

I was just out for a smoke and Gessner is friggin' gridlock right now. Internet says all of the roads out of town are in lock down. Shit shit shit.

If it gets flooded check to see how high it went. I actually was parked on the street for Hurricane Katrina and got flooded inside the carpet but the engine was fine. I first checked my block and it was dry a bone. I went ahead and changed my oil even though I'm sure it didn't hit my pan. However, if you know for sure that the engine is effected, tow it to a mechanic.
