Fix it ticket in so-cal.... :(

Anyone know how much it is to pay a fine for a window tint ticket? Someone mentioned to me it's just cheaper to rip off the tint, get it signed off, then re-tint it :*(.

On top of that I have to rig up my front license plate :*( Or would they sign off if I just put in my window?

Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong, but this is what I have heard. You don't pay the ticket, and wait for something to come in the mail saying you have 10 days to pay *this fine* ($100) or you'll be arrested. Then you don't have to have a "fix-it ticket", just a fine, that's the end of that.

Someone mentioned to me that the fine was higher in value than taking off and re-tinting (~ $60)

I have to pay like $50 or so if I did not take off my front tints.

It's $10 I think for a fix it ticket and new tints runs for about $50 for both side. I personally would just pay the fine to not have the tint taken off unless your tints are messed up with. It is not worth the hassle of to take off.

If your lucky, they will not even look at the car (happened to me) but what I did was just use double sided tape and stick the plate on the front bumper and take it off when I was done.

Tim, if you also got the fix it ticket for the front plate and just plan to pay the tint ticket, I don't think the CHP gonna sign off for the plate only. The officer might be an ass and write you another tint ticket when you show up for sign off the fix it license plate ticket, and he might make you remove infront of him!
Just out of courious, where did you get the ticket?

It's all dependent on the county, in some districts tint is no longer a "fix it" and is just a fine (80 or so), in some places it's still a fix it (most places actually). Remove and pay the $10 fine. If you don't remove i've seen the tickets go as high as 200+.

I've gotten probably 12+ of these, never had a front plate either.

I don't have the bracket for the plate nor use screws, thats why I used the double sided tape. I used the grey 3m one and it came off just fine.

What is the % of tint you have on your front windows if you don't mind me asking.

I got pulled over by University of California PD. It happened on the UCLA campus... never had a problem before, but according to the officer he stopped and warned me for doing a rolling stop (which I didn't feel that I had done).

My window tints are 35% front windows and 5% rear three.

It was the same cop that pulled me over a month before for not coming to a complete stop on my bicycle... I swear this guy is the most bored cop in all of California.

I'm going to see how much a fine without fix is. I can get the windows taken off and re-done for $60 total (would change it to 20% front instead of the 35% which I've been wanting to do anyway :Wish...
