There's a lot going on. It's nice to have a dream and nice enough to have a car at 16. I'm not your parent but I will tell you this as I did for my ex's sister who wanted a car. With having a vehicle, comes more than just buying it. Insurance, repairs, gas ect all comes hand in hand with owning a car. At 16 your focus shouldn't be on investing into a car with a max budget of 6K. You will never see that money in return and it would be a huge waste in the long run. To play you got to pay. Shit is going to break and shit is going to cost money which at 16, money isn't easy to come by. What you need is something reliable, very safe and easy to work on. 6K towards something newer is better.
No offense to any previous civic owners, but they are garbage. Some and I mean some are done well, but for the most part, they are garbage. Why would you want to worry about someone stealing a pile of shit?! You can't park your damn civic anywhere without the worry of it being stolen. With the amount of money you need to sink into a shit box to make it "Quick" is a huge waste. Anyway, sorry for my rant.. It's the truth however.
Back to what we were talking about. At 16 you need a reliable car. One that will have a love/hate relationship. You will learn how to drive, make mistakes and learn to drive again. My honest opinion, find a very clean well kept 2002-2003 Nissan Maxima. The VQ engine has plenty of power. You can at least get some options like a sunroof and leather seats. It's not a bullet proof car, it will have it's issues but a bit more solid than a civic.
RSX is nice also but not sure if you're going to find one at 6K
TSX 2004-2005 are also nice but might be a bit out of range.
Best of luck. Keep it stock and keep it clean.

Didn't you start another thread on this topic?
At 16, anything with 4 tires and a license plate makes you the ish.
First things first, call your parents' insurance provider and get quotes for whatever you're looking at. No point getting something you can't afford insurance on.
"Type-R" is a misnomer. I'm pretty sure he's referring to the EP3 (called Civic Si-R up here). OP, just remember it has the engine from the base RSX.

Get an rsx. Great looking car, lots of exterior & interior customization options, great on gas, get a stick shift too. Dont go civic, thats the most basic of basic cars, you're young, you want a nice sporty looking car that's also very reliable.
Highly recommend an rsx.

At this age the focus should be on learning safe driving skills (It'll take a few years). Get the car which gives you least insurance, least power and speed, most volume, most reliability and cheapest to buy. Quick and fun to drive cars can wait for now, and you will get them in a few years anyway.
