Finally rode in an EVO
My friend at work finally brought his EVO back in and let me ride in it. We took through griffith park so plenty of twisties
That car is AWESOME!!! Handles on rails, fast as balls adrenaline machine. I even like the simple interior on it. Hook it up with a sound sytem and you're all set.
He said when the weather cools off a little we'll go back there on a lunch brake and he'll let me drive for a bit. i can't wait!

Yeah
I drove an Evo last Friday.... 300 ponies of fun... The turbo had no lag at all....very linear tach..... I took it down the highway for a few runs up to 90...
I really dislike the huge ass wing on the back along with the interior..
The headroom was crazy... It felt like I could stand up in there..
As for the back seats...... ummm.. looks like that there should be baby seats strapped in there.... I give the interior design a big thumbs down... The WRX STI is soooo much better.., they really packed that motor in there too... everyting was tight... The Evo would kill me off the line...
Did you see this weeks road review on both?....
Car & Driver did the testing... pretty even...except for interior...
From what I heard around the area, they are going to have to discount them pretty good to get rid of the ones they got on the lots... 30K is steep for nothing but ALL WHEEL DRIVE..

The Spoiler is subjective, I think it looks awesome. For those that don't like it, a smaller rear spoiler is standard (no charge). The STi only comes with the huge spoiler.
The Evo comes with power windows, mirrors, keyless entry, in-dash CD (STi has no radio), Xenon's, A/C, Recaros, Momo wheel, intercooler spray, dash dimmer, power roof optional.
Don't know about anyone else, but that's enough features for me.
Every single comparison I have read has favored the Evo over the STi......all said and done.
Oh, you can get STi's discounted now as well along with almost every other car on the market.
Actually all the test show the evo out does the Sti by a narrow margin in everything accept straightline speed.
I think are both hot cars and would gladly take either one, but everyone keeps saying the EVO is the more fun car, the more driver friendly car.
Anyway, I didnt start this thread to hate on competition, they are both cool.

The STi will blow the Evo out of the water? Right, you are correct and the 12 other automobile publications saying differently are wrong.
I'll take better handling, steering, tranny over several tenths to 60 any day of the week.
Adding HP is not that expensive with these cars, so if more is necessary I'll get more. If I wanted a drag car, I would have bought a Supercharged Cobra and modded it out.

Some of you may recall that I was about a centimeter away from buying a new Evo VIII (instead I found a 2003 cls six speed at a great price) and scoped out a couple Evo forums. I take these things with a grain of salt, but I came away with the thought that there are relaibility problems with the Evo VIII - also Mitsubishi is pretty far down the list on the JD Power reliability ratings.
The other thing I discovered about the Sti/Evo cars is that there are all kinds of mods available. Has anyone seen some of the stage 1 or 2 packages by Vishnu or Cobb Tuning.
Again, the reliability concern played a major role in my decision.

I saw the comparison on this last weekend's HP TV, and C&D was the one who did it, and over all, their entire team of editors who got to drive both cars ended liking the Evo better, and all said that evo was more fun to drive. Then to top it off, the had some dude that was like a old rally Champ, and he drove both cars on a real rally/off-road course, and he had a better time in the Evo, and also agree that the evo gives more control and a more balanced car.
