Haven't posted here in a while, figured I'd give everyone an update --- or two!
Long story short, last September, I leased a 2015 Chrysler 200.
Biggest mistake ever! It has been nothing but problems since March. It had terrible transmission issues that no dealer was able to fix - and worse than that - no one wanted to even look at or touch the car. It took my lawyer an hour at screaming at the service director and Chrysler's lawyer for them to even look at the car. transmission was replaced twice, once in May (after waiting 2 weeks for a diagnosis ) and the second time at the end of June. TCM was replaced both times as well. Issues would get worse each time the dealer saw the car.
Now for the issues, the transmission would slip into neutral, get stuck in whatever gear it wanted (3rd, 4th, etc.) get stuck in drive, reverse, park, not stuck due to TCM errors, stall and accelerate by itself. Needless to say, very dangerous issues which Chrysler happened to ignore. I was stuck for half a year without a working car, and Chrysler doesn't give loaners!
Basically, the car started giving me the blinking D since 5500 miles and it took my lemon law lawyer and I 6 months to get rid of the damn thing after having consistent issues. This is not a one off issue with this car, all of them have/will have this issue according to an Engineer from Chrysler Corporate! It's an issue with TCM design. If you want more specifics or videos about it, reply or PM me! You can read more on the 200forums about these issues, I have the same username.
I thought 2nd and 3rd gen TL's have had bad trans issues!!!
Now for the good news! I got a 2016 Mustang Ecoboost Premium Performance Package!!!
It has almost 200 Miles on it. Picked it up on Monday!
TLDR; Bought shitty Chrysler 200, lemon lawed it, replaced it with Mustang
Nice man! Love the new Mustang, I will own one eventually...
That said, the 9 speed the first year it was out was problematic and it was due to software. It wasn't until like a month ago that they finally figured it out but it seems like you were having a ton more issues than just the transmission.
The 9AT in my Jeep runs like a champ, no issues or weird shifting at all.

They are having different issues. I think the renegade also has these. The wiring harness is too close to the trans and gets pinched and burns and shorts the whole freaking car so that all of the modules go bad or some shit.
They just found the issue and recalled it -- Expect a fix in late 2015/2016 if you have these issues.
When I first brought it in, they were quoting 2-3 months to wait for a trans, 2 weeks to diagnose and 1 week for installation and testing.
Too bad about the transmission issues you were having with the 200. I know for me my biggest fear with purchasing my Charger was how the tranny would hold up since I prefer manuals over autos. Luckily for me the 5sp auto in the Chargers are pretty much bulletproof. Hopefully Chrysler figures out the issues with the 200's tranny so others don't have to go through what you went through.
Good luck with the new 'Stang! Can't go wrong with a manual pony car. Hope it proves to be a better ownership experience for you.
OP - quick question for you. You leased a midsized 4 door sedan, but replaced it with a pony car - two completely different vehicles. Needs or priorities change or just looking for something different?
Stay away from Chryslers like its the plague. Absolutely terrible reliability (not all models, but generally.) Benz/Chrysler merge was one of those WTF moments in the auto industry.

I just came back from vacation and had a 200 rental in the same color. Boy was it a POS. One of the worst cars I've ever driven. My 2G TL probably drove better when it had a bad tranny. My dad even asked if it had any oil in it, since the powerplant felt like it was on its last legs. Constant gear slipping and frankly unsafe for public use.
Not sure if the Grand Cherokee has the same transmission, but had one of those as a rental a couple years ago and it was amazing.
First off, thanks to everyone here for their kind words! The mustang is a much better a car, even though it has 2 cylinder and 1.3 liters less than the 200, it is much more car (and it has a turbo ) I've been on the forum for a pretty long time, but didn't really post too much, I did read almost every post though!

It did indeed! That and well, I've always wanted a manual, but I chose an auto last time because I wanted something that everyone in my family could drive, just in case (I'm a college student, so I live with my parents and my sister)

I hope so as well! Those 5 speeds are bullet proof! They are the same ones used in the S Classes, and a friend had a 200 S430 with original engine and trans with 230k miles until last year when the airmatic went!

Good question! Not really anything with priorities, I'm a young guy so I don't have to haul anyone around, I rather just haul ass! I wanted something different after my bad experience --- Very different!

Hahahah! I wish it was all in my imagination! It was actually a huge nightmare! I know you're a mopar guy, but their customer service is shit! Their dealer service (near me at least) is shit! They only care about you when you're buying the car. God forbid something goes wrong, you're on your own!

That's a very general and false statement. As much as I hate FCA now for everything they made me go through, there only a few products that I tell people to avoid like the plague, mostly anything with the 9 speed transmission! (200, Cherokee, Renegade, new Dart ( I hear))

You were probably stuck with a 4 cylinder! I had a V6 200 so it was peppy, but handled poorly. The trans might have been going bad, when I was in FL in February, they tried to put me into a 200, I looked at it and saw that trans was newer (replaced at some point) Car had 9000 miles. I promptly asked for something that wasn't small, was put into a Grand Cherokee which drove well! The GC has the 8 speed (newer ones, older had the 5 speed). The 8 spd is much better and smoother compared to the 9 spd.
That's one hell of an upgrade and I've heard a few complaints about the 9-speed but none as bad as yours.
And I've gone through having a brand new car be trouble from day one. It sucks having your dream turn into a nightmare before your eyes, no doubt about it.
So you went from an American car to another American car? <img alt="" src="https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/doh.gif" title="Doh" /> Congrats though <img alt="" src="https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif" title="Thumbs Up" />

Congrats though
Basically, my family has had Honda's, Toyota, Acura, Mazda and Kia. I've decided to try out an american brand as I heard great things about Chrysler. They ware so fucking wrong, and now they won't get a third FCA vehicle because they know what I've been through! I decided to try out Ford, it was either Ford, Subaru or GM for my next car. And one of my other friends has problems with his 2014 Subaru and the new camaro isn't out yet...so that's how I decided on the Mustang. I was actually looking at the Focus ST, but decided the Mustang wasn't too much more, so I might as well go with it!

True that. Been very disappointed with Acura since 2008. They haven't made a single thing that I would actually want to own. Sad because my dad's 3G TL was such a great car!
EDIT: It's been exactly one week since I picked up the car! I have 497 Miles on it (Picked it up with 28). Filled it up twice already. Everyone loves the car, even the police (got a thumbs up).
When the re-designed Chrysler Mini-van came out. We had a chance to rent it. It was new so we assumed it would be a nice ride. Good Lord! It felt like the transmission or something wasn't bolted to the engine properly. The whole car felt like it was going to fall apart on us.
I have seen a couple of the VW mini-vans which are re-badged Chrysler vans on the side of the road.
