Are the both equal enough drivers to say the 135 is champ?

hey jessal, they say the 135 is a limited slip in the video...i thought it was a electronic controlled diff similar to the one in the 335.

whats your take on it, and furthermore how do you like the diff/drivetrain in your 335 compared to something that was a true limited slip?

I think it's funny how Tiff is actually "teaching" the guy how to drive the car around the track...as he's timing it.

I'd still take the Cayman. Something about the styling of the 1 series just make me say "meh"

Yea a lot of people keep thinking the 135i has a LSD but you right it doesnt.

I havent tracked my car to noticed the lack of a LSD when turning but the car cant grip when launched with an added piggyback. It really does need a LSD.

is there any hope of any aftermarket support for an LSD?

i really wanna go to RWD, but no LSD from BMW is kinda hurting my feelings and in turn making the other brands seem a little more desireable.

These cars aren't likely to be cross-shopped too often. The 135i starts at $34,900 and the Cayman starts at $43,400 (U.S. dollars, not British pounds). A nicely optioned 135i will cost you about $40K, but the Cayman will easily top $50K...

I would still take the Cayman...price independent.

And that's a base Cayman too. Probably a really unfair fight.

Turns out I glanced at the Porsche site incorrectly...the Cayman has a base price of $49,400 (with 245hp and a 0-60 of 5.8) and the Cayman S has a base price of $59,100 (with 295hp and a 0-60 of 5.1)!!! The S is more in line with the performance of the 135i at nearly twice the price! Ouch!

That white on red 135i doesn't look that bad after all. Would still have the Cayman though.

You can option out a Cayman S to close to 120k with every option.

Holy shit. You can find a CPO 911 Turbo (997) around those prices.

Good videos. A Cayman S would of romped the 135i. However, I am a fan of the 135i.

I know they're English... but this reminds me of a Denis Leary stand where he goes off on the French (re: proper pronunciation, about 45 seconds into it)

And yet the British hate the french. Filets are Fil-ets ... Herbs are pronounced WITH the H, etc etc ...

The problem is they are not comparing apples to apples. You take the top of the line BMW 1 series and compare it to base Porsche Cayman. Yes there is a price difference but these cars are not really in the same class. You compare a 135 to a Cayman S and the Porsche will dust it every time. I would take the Porsche over the BMW any day.

I think Porsche does a shitty job with their website. Some of those options are mutually exclusive but you'd never know it.

But yes, you can easily hit $100k for a loaded Cayman if you get the special paint, etc.

The fact that they both drifted for most of the turns....and we all know drifting is for looks, not for speed. So I guess that's why he said those 2 laps were terrible?

you guys seen this right

http://jalopnik.com/354900/the-ten-m...eous-car-msrps

ps. As others have similarly stated, I think its absurd they tested a base Cayman with thee 135. The S and the 135 run almost identical 1/4 mile times and would be the obvious comparison.

ok so MSRP on the S is $59k.. 135i is $35k. but the non-S Cayman is $49k. Don't think people would even be shopping the non-S to the 135i.. hence the doubts on this matchup.
