Like it or not (at Cartalk it's a blatant not) the 4G TL has a polarizing design that seems to get attention on both sides, positive and negative. But.... this post, along with the 4G TL and its owners, will likely get criticized and attacked, right? Or will it garner compliments as you suggest?
Lexus definitely has a bold and daring design language these days. Too much for some, but I personally like it. It's like Lexus said "people think we build bland looking cars? Fuck them. Watch this!"
Once manual transmissions become a thing of the past, which will be soon enough (I ain't buying a base model just for a manual!), I'll be looking to Lexus next. Can't wait!

Yep. They definitely have some bold design scheme going for all models.
Hell, the all new Camry looks much nicer than the previous ones. haha
Matter of opinion....the supposed "ugliness" of the 4G is a great internet mystery...I only received non solicited compliments for my car from strangers....gas stations, restaurants, etc...
For me it is a stunning and original design, is aging beautifully (actually not even aging yet) and even quite few die hard 3G "I will never buy a 4G" folks did break down and eventually got one.
People nowadays are so used to the bland sameness that even a masterpiece Citroen SM would be considered "ugly".
My co-worker has an 09, said his design is horrendous compared to the 2nd gen TSX...
As for the 4G hate - the 09-11 beak was appalling, and I had no interest in the car. The '12 refresh looked like a supermodel comparatively speaking. All it takes is a dash of paint on the grill and some tint and its a great looking, great performing sedan. The best part about abysmal sales? Great deals! I picked up my '12 SH-AWD w/tech in October 2011 and paid under invoice. I couldn't touch any of the competition for how little I paid for this car.
