I'm sure the 4G TL owners think the TLX design to be too bland. Not surprised there.

4G TL, TLX all fucking ugly.

Modded ones different story...

Acura = has went down hill after 2008 with the TL/TLX which I'm sure most can agree with that.

You have to understand that some people like or dislike the design. You learn to accept that fact before throwing personal shit to others like a 12 yrs old.

TLX replaced TL and TSX. That's one of many reasons why it feels like a downgrade. I don't know how bad that car is selling because I simply have zero interest in that car.

It still is a step in the right direction from 4G TL in terms of the looks. The 4G TL was one of the worst looking car ever for me.

You made it personal, I do not care I do not even own it anymore.

....why everyone hated it....
Do adults "hate" a car?? Who is "everyone"??

Did you run a poll where you verified that "everyone hates the TL??

I hate the design. That's what I said.

You apprantly like saying this, but "it's my personal opinion." Learn to deal with it instead of getting all defensive and trying to justify every post that you don't like.

And yes, you DO care. Man up.

Adults do hate cars.

I hate Corolla, Prius, and Camry because they annoy me on a personal level.

i dont hate 4G TL as I have no reason to but i think its exterior is ugly and laughable.

and i have yet to meet a person in real life who thought 4G TL was good looking including close friends who work for Acura. Sad isn't it.

I do not "hate" them...you may not like them (I don't nor I'm interested in anything in these segments) but they do have a place in the automotive world.

I would "hate" a car that would give me constant mechanical problems like a Chrysler model I owned over 15 years ago....

Wow you guys are tearing the 4G TL to shreds haha. Personally I own one and while I agree it's a hate it or love it design if you toss a set of wheels on , put the oem lip kit on, and lower it a tad it really transforms the car.

I think the TLX also looks pretty lame until you take those same steps.

I have seen some good looking modified 4G TL in person and yes it does have potentials.

But that is not relevant because with enough $$, you can make any car look good just as you can make any car go fast.

Is yours modded? If so... pic?

I've only seen like one or two 4G's where I was like, wow, that isn't too bad. But even modded they still look weird. And lowering seems to make them look even more bloated for some reason. Anyway, just my opinion. I still like to see some modded ones though just to see what people are doing to "fix" them...

Sure, here is a pic. Mine isn't heavily modded, but I certainly don't think it's as ugly as most of the guys in this thread

I think the 4G is not a bad looking car overall once it has the RonJon front grill on there.

Aero Kit + RonJon + Drop + wheels goes a long way with this car.

Untouched / modified? I'll pass.

I also think the larger wheel/tire combos make a difference. The 20" wheels make the proportions seem, well, more proportionate.

That RonJon grill also helps quite a bit...

I'm certainly not trying to nut hug RonJon's products, but it's really how the 4G should have came from factory - Flows so much nicer than the beak.

Now that we're completely off-topic, nice GS350 OP! Any modding plans for it?

Sure, but that can be said for pretty much any car on the road. It takes quite a bit of money for all of those parts to spruce up what is otherwise an abomination to the senses.

Think how much gangster the OPs Lexus would look with an aero kit, grill change, drop and wheels. I'm sure it would look even sexier!!

I 100% agree on that, I actually didn't really care for the car until they did the refresh in 2012. That's when they toned the grill down and I picked mine up.

I plan on having the windows tinted for sure. debating whether if I should paint the white horizontal fascia on mid section of the grille black and also paint the roof black to give the optical illusion that there's a panoramic roof. Not sure how those two things work out on the lease return.

Tint is not a problem on lease cars.

If you want the black roof look, Wrap is better, so you can remove it when you return the car.

This is my friend's GS. He has a front lip/wheels/air suspension.

Like oonowindoo, if you want to black out a certain part on the car, just wrap it. It's cheap and should last for the lease period. You can just take it off before you return.

If you are interested, I would just do some simple mods like front lip/springs for 1" drop/wheels. It would make your car a head turner.

That's a sick looking GS. I'm pretty much a newbie to the mod's that you mention. On average, how much would it cost to lower the car 1"?

Yeah, that car looks very mean in person. Nothing much done to it too. Lexus designed it very well.

I'm not 100% sure on the GS parts, but some quality spring set would be around $300. The installation at the shop can be anywhere from $150-350. I'll ask my friend to recommend something.

It has no problem lasting 2-3 years under the CA sun. assuming you get the good quality stuff like 3M.

10 years? it will get crispy.

I disagree.

Human nature suggests that people are more critical and free with negative criticisms than with positive compliments. The old adage that people are 10 times more likely to complain than compliment holds merit in nearly all facets of life. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/24/yo...ones.html?_r=0

Look here on Acurazine as case in point. Mention anything in Cartalk regarding the 4G TL and suddenly there is an onslaught of negativity and criticism. Check out some of the health forums; members there are quick to criticize their health care providers, attacking and accusing them, for usually misunderstood reasons. Porsche's 996 is still criticized for its headlamp styling. Most recent Superbowl? Pete Carroll ridiculed even till today for the last throwing play that resulted in an interception.

Like it or not (at Cartalk it's a blatant not) the 4G TL has a polarizing design that seems to get attention on both sides, positive and negative. But.... this post, along with the 4G TL and its owners, will likely get criticized and attacked, right? Or will it garner compliments as you suggest?

Yes the difference is people like to talk shit about you behind your back with others.
But most of them will not do it in front of you.

Vs.

People will compliment you in person but rarely say nice things behind your back.
If you think human as a whole is any different... then you are just too innocent.

We are different when we are online behind the safety net of computers. The REAL human nature comes out and we as human being, suck!

You need to distinguish between face-to-face interactions and online ones. The difference matters and impacts the outcome of your observations. That difference was also the entire point of my statement...which, somehow, you missed.
