or

30 days in the shop for the same problem.

I don't wanna go there yet. The dealer could simply return the 335 back to me to drive while waiting for the fan. I do not wanna experience it again.

Imagine you are merging onto the freeway and all of a sudden you cannot go over 45mph?
I hear you, but I think the more ammunition you have, the better.

Ha, i have not heard of any 328 have the same issue yet.

All the cases i know are all from 335 Msport.

Apparently BMW thinks Msports deserve more cooling so they installed a different AUX Fan when the Engine is identical to Non Msports.

talking about backfires...

Well back when the E9X 335i was released only sport package cars had the additional oil coolers. So the ones without them were going into limp mode. BMW finally fixed the issue and added it most of their 335i models from what i recall.

Now the opposite is happening, too much cooling. Poor BMW

Speaking of reliability and "bullet proof cars", I'd rather have an acceleration problem than a braking problem.

Jesel, I believe I just passed by this 328 on Ela in LZ. I believe a silver E36 was in front of it. Was it you by chance in the 328?

I'm really liking these F30s. The E90 didn't do much for me (looks wise), especially the pre-LCI models. These F30s should have been the successors to the E46s.

Problem is Ok, as long as there is a permanent solution. Reoccurring ones like the ones from CL, E9X fuel pumps and now this are not ok.

You will be disappointed if you like the "traditional" handling feel of BMW.

But other than that, F30 is a good improvement over E9x.

Coming from S2000, i was laughing at the phrase "ultimate driving machine" when i bought the F30. But not bad enough for me to sell it.

Then after driving the E92 again after many years, i was saying "that is more like it"

Oh I think the F30 looks amazing inside and out. Just lost a bit of that fun factor the E9X had. I feel like BMW is becoming more like Audi, pretty cars but not as fun to drive.

I've never driven an F30, but I don't doubt that your E90 is much more fun to drive. I was just speaking from the looks perspective, those F30s look really sharp!

If something breaks on a car, car should come to crawl and stop. If nothing is broken, why is this BMW doing this?

I read these new BMW don't come with oil dipsticks. Could it be the oil is running low and engine over heating?

Limp mode is actually useful for preventing catastrophic damage.

Doubtful, for a variety of reasons. You are correct that there is no manual dipstick; there is an electronic one, however. Low oil on the car would have set off a whole host of alarms and codes prior to this.

^^ Limp mode is VERY useful.
Sure it may be inconvenient, but it can be a giant help in preventing serious damage.
From overheating due to oil, water, fan....etc.

...and yea, not having a dipstick is a bit weird at first, but electronic display for oil is not bad.

I still would like a temperature gauge.

The car was not overheating. It is just the fan thinks the car is overheating.

I think there is a communication problem somewhere between the fan, computer and the sensor.

Agreed. I'd rather have a feature that may be inconvenient once in a while than no feature and end up with serious damage.

Let's not sugar coat it. Someone at the engneering department and quailty control messed up. You would think all the hot weather testing would have brought this issue up.

Which part about "communication problem" is sugar coating it? Obviously there is an issue, but it's not causing damage to the car. If anything, it's preventing damage. It's just a big inconvenience.

It has little or nothing to do with the hot weather.

It is just random.

There are people on the forum who had Limp mode then track the same cars all day in 90 degree without any limp mode.

You have a temp gauge...it's just that it's for the oil, not the coolant.

Why does BMW choose to have a temp gauge for oil instead of water like other cars?

No idea. In all honestly, I like that there is an oil temp gauge, but I wish it had both. I noticed, recently, after an oil change that the operating temp of the car dropped about 10 degrees. That will help me have an idea of when the oil is *really* becoming less effective, rather than the computer telling me to wait until 15k miles have gone by.

make sure you try E9X 335 Msport first before any Lexus products.

Is it me or is there a double standard going on here? If this problem happened to Acura, there would be so much hate. Since it’s a BMW, we’ll let it slide.

You are wrong. There is already so much hate for Acura here. You can't possibly add much more unless they fuck up their next Gen TLX like their RLX.

Update:

Was reading the forum and the Fan, relay and DME computer are all on backorder in Canada.

So apparently it is just not a "few" of us on the forum who have this problem.

it has been 5 days since i got the autotragic loaner and i am already bored with the car mainly due to its transmission.
