Neat.

The BMW logo is description is incorrect though, the logo has nothing to do with airplanes. Its just the colors of the german flag.

I was told that by someone who works at BMW NA. He thought the same thing too, but someone in from BMW Germany told him that its really for the German flag. I think the airplane explination came about due to their marketing campaigns.

Well the idea of the plane didnt really make them look good considering the planes were for the Nazi military.

As the story goes....

OK...but where do you see the German flag? not doubting you, but just wondering.

I was just coming in to post this. Up until Monday I thought it was the propeller explanation, but I watched Ultimate Factories on National Geographic Monday night and they had BMW on there. When they put the logo on the Z4 they followed through the assembly line the guy who they were "interviewing" said (in his thick German accent) that the logo was not for the propeller against the sky, but for the colors of the German flag.

The colors of the BMW logo are for the Flag, but still represent spinning propellers (this is what i've read a few places)

I was looking at the German flag (the 3 stripes), didn't know there was a Bavarian flag too.

Seems like only Mitsu and Mazda made it. The Japanese Big 3, oddly enough, we're ignored.
