What if you found out, that you will never be able to afford an M3 and this is something you can afford?

M3 base is 51k right how much cheaper would that M1 be ? i dont really like 1 series car look more like a weird toy M3 is beauty and its more practical... 335i if i cant afford M3 but anyway im not gonna buy BMW bc its too expensive and value after 2-3 years sucks. and when its out of warranty then
i'd stay with something more reliable. i think japan technology and japanese cars fit me... if i had alot of money that i did not have to care about value loss and warranty and all these problems then why not
i know that acura is american but still there is some technology from honda right

I'm sure it will be a cool ride, but I'm a little disappointed with the idea of a turbocharged M car. I can guess why they did it...wasn't worth the development cost to wander too far from the 135i template for such a short run/limited production car, so they just stuck with the turbocharged N-series engine and did what they could with it.
I would have loved to have seen a 350+ hp S54 under the hood for the razor sharp throttle response an rev-it-till-it's-hilarious action and I have a feeling it's not going to be as wild as an E46 M3.

Then you're going to be pretty disappointed when you realize how much the 1M is going to be. Odds are that if you cannot afford an M3, a 1M will be out of reach as well. Probably only about ~$10k in difference on base MSRP... nevermind once options are installed.

Wow, that's going to be a tall order making an N55 as exciting to drive as an S54 or 65. The N55 behaves like a typical turbo engine in most ways for better and worse...crazy torque when it gets rolling, but slow throttle response when you blip the pedal, and you'll never totally get rid of the turbo lag. Jumping into a 6mt 135i after my muscle memory was still stuck in "350Z mode" for so long still throws me off when I try to rev match a downshift.

I've heard $46-48k base. Throw the destination charge and a couple options on it and it likely be $50-52k. More than I would pay.

I hated the 1 series when they first came out, now it's grown on me... I really like it, I'm excited to see this... (not that I could afford it
).

I think you all know what I did with $55-60k....
While I like the look of the 1-series, and even with a turbo, the littlest M should be an absolute BLAST to drive, it simply is going to be way too much money when optioned up. For that money, you can buy a CTS-V, which is bigger, more powerful, as fun to drive, and is even in my case super-reliable.
Even so, I'm sure as hell going go test drive one when it finally appears!
