Sell it out of spite? No.

But will I buy Acura again, as my next vehicle? No.

Let me elaborate on my answer. If I could afford not to have this Acura anymore, it'd be long gone. But it's not worth much in resale anymore, I don't use it much (walk to work), and I can't afford to move into something else right now. So it makes sense to keep it for a while longer. My goal is to officially be in something else before this transmission fails completely -- it's been showing signs for years already. And my next car WILL NOT be an Acura. I understand your anger and frustration.

I haven't and doubt I'll sell a car out of spite from poor customer service/warranty work but if its a POS I'll sell it. If I get poor service/reliability then I won't buy from the brand again until I see notable, consistent improvement over time.

My poor, poor 95 Integra. Faithfully served 4 different owners, then when I got a hold of it and didn't know any better at the time, it was broken into, I cross-threaded the head by not properly torque-ing the spark plugs, warped the rotors by not torqueing the lugs, and thanks to my friend a chunk of the transmission casing broke off and I had to JB Weld it back together. And to top it all off, it ended up going sideways into a mountainside which prompted me to sell it.

So I don't blame Honda in that case, I blame thieves, my friend, and myself. And thus is why I prefer to buy lightly used/well maintained, so that any potential issues that may arise have already arisen or been fixed, and I can decide for myself whether I wanna deal with it or not.

my father has, hasn't regretted the choice for over 10 years either. He is still anti-bimmer after his experience.

I can't wait until Acura refuses to fix the problem and I get stuck with an additional $129 alignment fee.

Must be an auto . Heated seats, premium pkg. Nice to have xenons and perhaps comfort access.

This place has a decent selection, but have no idea on reputation.

That one looks decent but I'm not sure about Platinum Bronze Metallic...

Spite is spite... Regardless if it's because of an alignment issue or something else.

My mom had an RX300 for one day, but cancelled the sale that night before she ever drove it off the lot because a lot of people online complained about alignment issues.
She's an idiot when it comes to this stuff, btw. She made a Toyota salesman quit because she kept test driving the same few cars over and over and over and it drove him nuts.

Dan hasn't been pleased with his TSX as of late, so neither of us is really itching to get back into an Acura after we're done with these. Issues aside, I'm not brand loyal, and I look forward to giving a new company a try (after some research and review, of course).

From the sounds of the 3rd gen TL forum, the '05 TL I had for a couple years was a unique edition "rattle free", even the center channel speaker cooperated.

That sucks man. I would probably feel the same. If you can't come up with good enough reasons to keep it, then go for it.

Audi's got some great deals on the outgoing A4. 0.9% and 2.9% financing on the '08 A4. Worth looking into if you like the A4 because they have already been discounting them to make room for the '09 A4.

What other brands do you like? What about the Mazda 6 or the new Accord coupe?

I disagree, what happens if something not so small breaks and your stuck dealing with the same shitty service? Its not a gamble I'm willing to take, you could call it spite, but I would call it damage control.

That's one of the most irritating problems you can have with a car; having to constatly apply tuning pressure to simply go straight; something which should represent a state of rest. I get bad alignment fixed before anything else, and if it was unfixable I'd lose the car very soon.

I still have my special edition- maybe I didn't pay enough for them to add in the standard OEM rattles.
No trans problems, or any problems, either. However, given the placement of TLs and Acuras in various surveys, we're probably not a representative cross-section of Acura's generally satisfied customers (lots of gearheads, enthusiasts, perfectionists and whiners on AZ).

3rd Gen TLs have known tranny issues as well? Or are you all still referring to the Second Gen models? Mine's a '99... Hasn't completely failed, but Reverse has been on its way out for years. It's only a matter of time til it hits the forward gears and dies.

While I agree, selling the car because of a tiny problem is a pretty stupid move. You're going to have problems with most, if not all, modern cars. They're mainstream machines built in factories and shipped out by the thousands. My car is dropped 2" with neg camber all around, 19x9" wheels with wider rubber than factory and I have no problems...Its obvious at this point that either the people doing the allignment suck at life, or he needs to spend $300 on the F/R camber kit and be done with it

Well this kinda hits home because I just had an alignment done for my Odyssey and I still feel some pull. It's very frustrating not only tugging on the wheel constantly but taking something in to be fixed and having it emerge only half right.

Maybe one day when you actually buy a car with your own money AND pay for the maintenance yourself AND the insurance...ie a complete and true owner experience. Then, you may have an inkling of how Scrib is feeling right now.

No, I was just riffing on the 2G TLs; the 3G 5AT auto trans does not have any issues. Some 3G 6Ms have had a 3d-gear shifting/pop-out problem which is solved by a change of trans fluids.

So far, I drove my TL back to the dealership only to pick up touch-up paint, buy wiper blade inserts and look at the TL-S. I'm pretty happy with my car and may buy it off the lease I'm on now, unless I run across an NSX screaming my name.
