It's nice to see that there are some ITR's still in stock form w/ low miles. It's a shame that most of them were stolen and stripped. The Civic's and RSX's of today don't have that raw feeling the B and H powered cars of 90's did.
Didn't the MazdaSpeed Protegé beat the ITR in the slalom? I thought it took the crown from Honda, but was never really considered the best handling FACTORY fwd car because it was tricked out with parts from the MazdaSpeed catalog. That would be like Honda selling the ITR with all Mugen parts instead of engineering their own stuff.

^man.... a 4-door ITR was like my dream car at the time. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was only offered in certain parts of Europe and Japan.
oh and Eric if you thought the sound of the Civic Si VTEC crossover was intense, you haven't sat in a car with a B16B yet. It was my friend's friend, had a B16B in his EG (just so he could say he did) and it had some work done to it. Port + polish, valve job, cams and some other stuff... VTEC engagement was violent. That was a fun car... heh

Damn, 4-door ITR. That works for me. The only thing that I did not like about my old integra was the highway mpg. At 80mph I was spinning at over 4500rpm, from what I recall.

Really? Mine was pretty stock, at least engine wise. Not spectacular but going to LA I got 32 mpg with 4 people in the car

when some of those old fuckers at honda pass on to the afterlife maybe some of its employees who once enjoyed hondas "true form" will take it back in the right direction.
i personally love buying older pre-owened honda's/acura's and reviving them. i smirk at newer stuff b/c i know the love and time i put in to my car will never be rivaled by a guy in a boat on wheels with a honda/acura badge on it..

Still nice to see there are some people around here that can appreciate Integras
Only two.... one had a JDM front with bad fitment, and the other was in mediocre condition, but for $11,500. Only way I'd own one though is if I lived in an upscale, gated-entrance neighborhood up in the hills and I had a garage where I could park it in front of another car. Thieves suck.

Man my RSX is feeling bad from this thread lmao. This makes me want to put an LSD in my car haha. All jokes now, but it could happen as I do plan to keep the car forever, sort of nice having a car that's out of production but that the same time it's pretty much an 7th/8th gen SI with the Kseries. blah

I really like my Si, I have no illusions about it being something it's not, but as long as you understand what is, it's a great car. I wouldn't want to drive an Integra Type R everyday, and I don't drive everyday, but the Si is comfy enough for regular traveling, quick enough to be safe, economical enough for me not to be pissed that it only gets driven 6k miles/year, and CHEAP to insure.
It's not fast, it's not the best handling car made, and there is no getting around it's a freaking civic, but that's not a bad thing either.

I only drive about 7k miles a year. For me, it's because nothing I need to go to, from stores to work, is more than fifteen minutes from the house (basically ten miles or less).

The Si is my beater, and I just checked it's closer to 6.5k miles/year I work from home so that's just my screwing around doing personal stuff. I have a lot to do this year so it will probably be closer to 10k miles

When I had mine I drove it all the time and loved every minute of it...with no A/C...in the summer..

I agree that Honda has not lost it's soul, to me Honda/Acura a little lost at the moment in the enthusiasts point of view. Dropping the NSX and no S2000 replacement have hurt to say the least.
Also didn't realize the FD2 existed, also too bad it's not available here. I never drove a 3G ITR, but I drove a friend's GS-R and it was pretty decent handling chassis. He sold that for a RSX S which I only rode in but it seemed to hold up the Integra tradition well.
My brother bought a 2007 Civic sedan, he considered the Si (he once owned a CRX Si) when he was shopping around. We both drove a Si sedan and although he liked it he couldn't get over the disappointing gas mileage and premium fuel needed. Still a really nice sporty sedan.
The day we donated my wife's 86 Integra we took it out for one last spin before the charity picked it up. Although it only had 113HP, it was still alot of fun to drive. Heck I still liked the piano style climate controls

To be fair, it IS a Civic Si, not a Civic Type R. I mean, the current Civic Si is much better than the previous version (that "minivan" with only 160hp).
And yes shrykhar, the FD2 Type R uses hydraulic steering.
IMO, Honda hasn't really "lost its soul." The FD2 is the proof for that. Just like the DC2 Type R, the new CTR is still pretty hardcore. It uses hydraulic steering, no sound deadening material, stiff springs, brembo brakes, no power mirrors, no spare tire, Torsen LSD, no folding rear seats, aluminum front bumper beam, highly tuned engine, resin coating on the inner surface of the intake manifolds. It still has a very slick shifting gearbox, still has a very rev happy engine, it still performs like a race car, no torque steer...and the list goes on and on. Performance wise, it's miles ahead of the DC2 Integra Type R. For instance, it's 2-3 seconds faster than the ITR on Tsukuba (1:07 to 1:08, vs 1:09 to 1:10). How much is 2-3 seconds on that track? Well, the R35 GTR is also 2-3 seconds faster than a NSX-R.

No A/C would be unbearable. I previously had a S2k and it was my only car, while I enjoyed the car, the enjoyment did not outweigh the inconveniences. I have no regrets though, I enjoyed the car but I will never put myself in that position again.
