The Driving Experience/Racing School Thread

This thread is for members to post any driving experience they have attended.

I know a few of us have done Exotics Racing in Vegas and i think others have done the World Class Driving, so please post pics, videos, and what you thought about the cars.

I'll go first. my fiancee got me a gift certificate for exotics racing in Vegas. I was originally supposed to drive one of two Gallardo LP560-4, but when my turn came up, they both left the track.

the owner had just drove up in the new ( a week old with 700 miles on the clock ) Gallardo LP550-2, so as my name was called, i was pretty excited as the instructor walked me to the car.

The roofline of the Gallardo is low, im about 5'11" ish, and i couldnt fit comfortably with the helmet on, so i didnt have to wear one.

The car drove great, but 5 laps was not anywhere near enough. when all was said and done, i made my fiancee drive back to the hotel because i was too pumped up that id probably get us pulled over.

enough chat, onto the pics.

No kidding!!! But that's probably enough for most people who have never driven on a track before. Besides, you're driving a car that you don't own. And with these types of events, most will limit the speed you can drive by either putting unnecessary chicanes on a straight and having the instructor remind you time after time to reduce your speed.

Couple weeks ago, I attended the Cadillac V-Series Performance Lab in AutoClub Speedway. In the briefing before the driving, they kept saying not to exceed 110mph on the oval. I was thinking to myself, that's no fun especially in a CTS-V. I was able to reach 140mph on the oval in both my 335i and S4. Anyway, I was fortunate to have an instructor who gave me some slack. I got up to 127mph on the oval. Still slow, but I understand that it wasn't my car, and Cadillac doesn't want anything bad to happen. It was fun, but the amount of driving time got me wanting A LOT more.

Wait, did they not give you a helmet when you went through the pre-run chat with the driver?

Anyway, it's an awesome event & glad you had a great time.
Some of my pics when I went in March.

I drove a Superleggera for 6 laps. There's not much to say besides it being the coolest damn car I have ever driven; I still remember the noise & braking power of it. Was such a great feeling finally getting to drive a Lamborghini, let alone this model on the track. I rode in a 5.0 model years ago at MSR outside Dallas, but this topped that completely. The only step above it is ownership now.

Lucky bastard.

It's crazy how fast you can come out of that right hand-bend & then pick up so much speed. And that there are even quicker cars.

I can't find it on their site anymore, but they used to hold track days in SoCal as well. If you ever think about doing the ride-along experience as well, wait til' you get there, as it's not always a Z06. When I went, they had the 430S as the ride-along car & then a GT3 RS 997 afterwards.

my brother has a Turbo Cayenne and you're right you can really hustle them around even twisty roads.

BTW, you have a great finance to get you a gift like that!

Groupon had a thing like this that I couldn't pass up. I'll be going to Summit Point this spring to do some laps in a Ferrari, Lambo, or AM.
