i think acura needs to make something with rear wheel drive before they take the top off of it. Why would you spend about 50k on a convertable when it cant even compete with the competition... Most executives wouldnt want to wait for a huge turbo to spin up or have that whine of a small 4 banger in thier convertable.
So honestly, Acura has some work ahead of them to compete with their european and now even japanese counterparts. But i cant definately eventually making something to compete in the convertable parts.... or maybe not? never know

ehhh the rsx seems a bit nicer inside than a honda vehical.... plus it would definatly hafta cost half the price.... if the s2000 was an acura there would need to be a makerover on the fact that Acura appeals to a "luxry" buyer, therefore the s2000 would need more of those "fancy" features.
Its interesting tho..... but curious and probably a stupid question but do these highend brands off of thier main company (acura, lexus, infinity) exist outside the US and mainly north america? i know acura doesnt off NA (correct me if im wrong)... that could also be the problem., with a limited public for the acura name

Not that a salesperson knows everything that happens, but one I talked to at my dealer said Acura execs came in and discussed with them some ideas and they said something about making a convertible out of the TSX frame. Not sure if we will ever see this, but it would be nice to see something a little bigger, or more sporty than a TSX convertible.

it would definatly need a larger engine to compete with the others tho imho.... the ammount of support weight that will need to be added to keep the saftey level it is at would be incredible

no way. remember, dealers are filled with bs, that's what a year at a-tsx taught me. I heard stories of salesman trying to convince people the Accord was AWD! I've heard more, just can't think of any.

My dealership is far from the ordinary. They've been dead on with everything else they've told me. Including new releases from Comptech and Honda/Acura.
The RSX will be killed off within the next 2 years. The entire Acura lineup is moving more upscale (as if you haven't already noticed) The TSX, TL, and RL all offer more luxury than ever anticipated 5 years ago for the price Acura offers these cars.
There will be a TL coupe or maybe the return of the CL for model year '06 or maybe '07. It'd be nice to see them drop the top on that as well.

WOW, Imagine that, the pristine reputation of a car sales person is tarnished, I can't imagine that they would ever make something up to meet quota and bring home a fat paycheck...could you?

I miss my 03 CL-S :(

I think some companies have had them, and decided they're not profitable. Just because you don't have a convertible doesn't mean you should have one in your product line. Same with coupes. Acura had one, didn't sell, now they don't. Simple as that. In the not to distant past, Infinity had the M30 convertible a while back. Buick had the Reatta.
Although Hyundai is coming out with a hardtop convertible Tiburon (search this site for details).
This thread reminds me of Three Kings when the guy is saying that after the war he's getting a Lexus convertible when in the early 90s Lexus didn't have one

There has always been talk of an acura s2000 spin off, but H/A probably feel that would hurt sales of the s2000. Now if they would but a 3.5L v6 in the rwd S2000, that would really be interesting...

IMHO, this would adversely affect the S2K's handling capabilities. I recall similar discussions regarding VK45DE motor in a Z, with similar suppositions. But it would be interesting.

VW and audi did that with thier new flagship vehicals..... but your right it could take sales away but then again if its a much more luxurious vehical like the g35 and 350z it would probably tend to a different crowd
