Do not buy "Trakktape". yet.
just thought id share my experience with you guys.
After doing a quick research online, i came across this site.
http://www.trakktape.com/
seemed like the exact thing i was looking for the long drive back home, 1000+ miles. it went on pretty easy and worked very well. but after removing it, there was some residue left on the hood, fenders, and the bumper that is EXTREMELY hard to remove.
I'll have to get an expert to work on it now. I was able to get some of it off, but had to rub the rag on it very hard.
the reason why I wrote yet in the title is because this is an excellent product. The company just needs to work on their sticky part. something like blue tape would be great too. Im sending them an email about this.
its hard to see it in this picture, but what ever you can see, is all over the front end of my car now.

The green seems to be about 2x as thick as the blue. The green also has a little stickier adhesive used. It really hot long drives the green will leave residue however it is very easy to get with some soapy water and a microfiber towel. I would steer clear of using the green on the hood over the engine. On short trips I began switching to using all blue. On long trips I would cover the front bumper with green and the hood with blue as it never seemed to leave adhesive in high heat areas. I normally would cover the entire bumper, the entire hood as it was CF and the fenders to the middle of the arches.
I used a shit ton of this stuff to say the least as when showing I would tape all of that up both on the way to the show and on the way home every time about 10 shows a year. I would normally have to get 3 rolls per event and used about 1.5 each way with a little left over. They were 3in wide rolls as well.

I'm really sorry you had a bad experience with the tape. Although, I don't offer a formal guarantee or return policy, in reality I really want to stand behind the product. If you would like to return the tape you have left, please contact me at info@trakktape.com and I will do a total refund, including return postage.
So far, I have not had anyone report difficulty in getting the adhesive off and I really try to stay in touch with my customer base in order to get both good and bad feedback. I don't doubt that you had the issue you say, due to the wide variations in paint.
By the way, this is a pretty typical review on the tape:

After reading your email, I remembered something from my manufacturer about isopropyl alcohol, so I just tried using some rubbing alcohol directly on some tape. It took the adhesive right off the tape, so that might have helped you.
I have been using TrakkTape personally for about five years now, both on factory paint and aftermarket. I have left it on a long as 12 days and then peeled it off on a cold day at Willow Springs with no issues. But, that is only my personal experience.
Again, really sorry it didn't work well for you and please contact me any time for a full refund.
And thanks for trying it in the first place!
Have a great Christmas!
David
Thanks for the nice words.
This is a little sideline business for me, that I really like doing. I have some great customers and love the support I get online.
Doing the right thing is more important to me than making a profit. I make enough off this to pay for track days for my Lotus and replace my motorcycle jackets, not a lot more!

Residue Followup
As you all know by now, I represent TrakkTape.
I have used it personally for about seven years now and just had my first occurance of any residue left on the car. I have used it in hot and cold and left it on for up to about ten days, all without issue.
Last winter, I was going to a track weekend at Willow Springs in Southern California. We were experiencing torrential rains and I drove to the track Friday night. During the drive, considerable amounts of water got in and around the tape through the assorted edges that are normally no problem.
The tape looked awful over the weekend, but I was literally cutting weepholes here and there to let out the trapped water. The weather was generally fairly cold as well.
On Sunday afternoon, when I pulled off the tape, there was residue in various areas. When I got back home and started to try to get it off, I did find that isopropyl or rubbing alcohol seemed to work best.
I feel pretty certain the water was a factor. I don't know if it has to be water and cold temps, but would be curious if the first poster encountered any rain on his trip and how long the tape was on his car.
So, FYI, I guess I would suggest that if you are doing a track day and it starts to rain, pull off a bit of tape to see if it is still coming off well. In fact, if it is raining, just pull it off to be safe. The wet track is going to suppress a lot of the debris anyway. Velocities will be lower, as well.
In closing, the above is my only personal issue in years of use. Thanks for the support!
