So the lease on my 06 330i is up in a few months and I'm looking at a few different cars, preferebly coupes. 335i, G37, A5/S5

I stopped by an Infiniti dealership a couple of weeks ago to test drive the G37S and get some price quotes. I was really disappointed with the dealer. They were professional but kept feeding me BS after BS. No surprise here. What really surprised me was how the dealership was run and how the layout was. None of the salesperson had access to their own computer or calculator. The salesperson that helped me had to share the phone with another salesperson. Everytime I asked about a price or had questions, she would walk to this room that had computers. She would than walk out to another place and than back to the same room. This happened like 5 times!

I thought it was just that individual dealer. So today I decided to stop by a different Infiniti dealer. Same thing. The salesperson probably doesn't even know how to do the calculations. Are all Infiniti dealers like this?

While at the second Infiniti dealer, there was a BMW dealer nearby so I decided to stop by and get some lease numbers. It was the total opposite experience. Every salesperson had their own computer. They knew how to do calculations. They didn't need to walk around for like 10mins just to answer my one question. Very straight forward and no BS.

When I got my TL a few years ago, the dealer was run similar to BMW dealers.

I still haven't stopped by the Audi dealer yet.

Did you go to Legacy (old Atlantic) Infiniti?
They are really unknowledgeable.

 

To me it sounds like the dealers don't want your business to bad.
I'd say you know how much per month you gotta have for that lease quit playing games. if you wanna play games i'll go to another dealer or brand. basically call their bluff. most dealers love to play games.
with you being a young guy they probably don't think you can afford this class of car and their playing games.

 

The first Infiniti dealer I went to was Legacy (Atlantic).

I knew Atlantic Infiniti is bad. But I didn't realize they had changed their name to Legacy. If I had known I wouldn't have gone. The experience at the second Infiniti dealer was worse.

I might look young, but I'm not that young.

 

My Infiniti dealer is top notch. The salesman was very knowledgebale and I was treated with great respect even though I made it clear I wasn't going to buy anything at the moment. It made my decision to go ahead and buy from them weeks later alot easier...

 

Well I had a similar experience here in San Diego, CA at Kearny Mesa Infiniti!! I would NEVER buy a car from them!!

 

When I bought an Infiniti I experienced similar buffoonery, they had computers in their cubicles, but the overall experience was really poor. From my experience the best approach is to go test drive the cars you are interested in, figure out what it is you want, don't bother talking to the sales people, tell them you are just looking. Go home and contact them through their websites, tell them exactly what your looking for and want a price quote and are cross shopping from a few dealerships. It saves you time, money and most importantly it ends the BS that seems to flow endlessly from car sales peoples mouths.

 

When my brother bought his TL from an Inifiniti dealer the sales guy had his own office, the finance guy did too.

 

I didn't get great service from one of the Infiniti dealers I went to before I bought my I35. I went to 2 Infiniti dealerships and a Nissan dealer. Had the best service from the Nissan dealer.

However on the service end, I got the most honest answers regarding service and maintainance questions from Infiniti in general. Absolutely no BS. When my SES light came on and regarding my 90K mile service. It was better than I ever got from Nissan and Acura.

 

Your experience describes only half the crap I put up with at my former Acura dealership (Lehigh Valley Acura) since I bought my cl-s back in 2000, when I test drove a 2004 TL, and also when I test drove the RL a couple years back. Dealer that sold me the cl-s is a complete prick. The sales manager (he was 18) that rode with me when I drove the TL didnt know anything about the car, he even thought it was RWD! The dealer that rode with me in the RL didn't know anything about the car and was a complete ASS on top of it...actually had the gall to tell me how I should be spending my money: "You live where it snows, don't get RWD...you NEED AWD", "You don't need a V8", "SHAWD is the best!" and when I asked why, he couldn't answer...he just insisted it is the "best!".

My Infiniti dealerhsip is top notch, which is part of a land-rover and jag dealership, while my former Acura dealership used to share floor space with Suzuki cars.

 

I think it's different owners now, same owners as Millennium, maybe they are better.
At least they acknowledge your presence, when I go to dealers they don't even ask me if I need help (your loss LQ BMW)

Ditto....I really liked my local Infiniti dealer as well.

I used another one in Richmond several years ago when I lived there and they always treated me with the utmost respect, despite the fact that I had an old G20 and was a poor grad student.

 

+1 for the internet. Even when you buy it takes forever, imagine the haggle.

Can anyone recommend an Acura dealership in the NYC/Long Island area?

I know of Rallye Acura (so far my first choice based on my visit there - aside from a conversation with a rather arrogant sales person) and Paragon Acura, because I've driven past it before.

Any positive recommendations or advice to stay away from certain dealerships in my area?

 

I'd stay far away from Paragon.....heard nothing but bad stories on here about that place.

I've heard some good things about Curry Acura, but not sure where that is. Sorry, I'm in central Jersey.

 

Thanks! An internet search came up with some shady experiences at Paragon, so I think until otherwise convinced, I may take them off my list?
