Damaged the TSX (1G) ... What should I get next?

Recently damaged my TSX which I bought from an AZer in VA thanks to a stupid taxi driver. I'm not sure if the adjuster will deem the car a total loss (I HOPE they do) but in the case that they do, I've started to look for other cars.

While I enjoyed the car while I had it, I felt the TSX was lacking ultimately lacking in a few major areas (acceleration, handling) so I doubt I will spring for another 4 cyl any time soon. While I wait for my insurance company to take a look at the car, does anyone have any suggestions regarding what cars I should look into?

My short-list at the moment is very.. short: B8 A4, E90 Sedan or Coupe (can't decide which) and the Lexus IS250. I'm looking at a budget of ~$25k all-in, so I'm looking at 08-10 models. Any other suggestions? I'm mainly looking for something that's decently fun to drive, luxurious, but still maintains reliability.

I wouldn't bother with an E9X 328i. A friend has one and it's an utter bore. Go for a 335i if there's one that fits your budget.

G37 or C300/350?

I'm assuming you're looking for RWD so I won't even bother suggesting another TSX or TL.

I would also suggest an E30 M3 but you did say reliable, so.....forget that I brought it up :P

A4 and IS250

Get the 3.2 A4 if you go that route. The 2.0T seems to have the same power as your TSX lol

Do you have any pics? If its not damaged entirely you can probably part it out and make some money on it.

meh the IS250 and A4 are bores as well...If not more boring than the E90 3s'

I'd go for a G37, 335i as well...something with a bit more power and good steering...Perhaps IS350...But not sure if any of those 3 could be had for 25K unless they have high miles.

Thanks for the input everyone. My insurance company ultimately decided to total out the car due to firewall damage. The car is an 07 Non-Nav TSX with 63k miles, and the company is offering approximately $16.8k (after taxes) for the car.

Given NYC's 8.9% tax rate, this implies that the car is being valued at ~$15.3k. Is this a fair value? Should I ask for more? Any input is appreciated.

As far as my next car, I've given it some thought and have narrowed my selection down to either the E90/92 335i or a B8 A4. I have test-driven a handful of E90s and E92s so far, and the driving experience is really impressive all-around. Have yet to find a B8 in my price range..

The car is definitely not badly damaged, and I'm going to speak with my adjuster re: buying it back for a part-out. Really depends on whether or not I can get my mechanic aboard & if time permits..

Stay away from Audi's, unless you have deep pockets.

Both good cars. We had a B7 A4 and loved it. 2.0T was a blast to drive, and could easily get 33+mpg on it... especially cruising on the highway. They respond well to mods too. It was also just as reliable, if not more so, then any Honda/Acura product we owned.

Agreed....I would look at the B8 A4. The 2.0T is an awesome engine and once you put a Stassis engine tune on it, it will be anything but boring (recommend Stassis due to their warranty and that Audi recognizes their work, although they arent cheap).

I wouldnt worry about the fears people will say here about their reliability. All vehicles can have their issues, but i love the 4G TL section or other dedicated forums here. They will knock German reliabilty and then next week start a thread about how their Transmission/Torque convertor is being replaced or how they are on their 3rd prop shaft or how their J or K series is burning oil etc etc......but hey the Germans are horrible right.....Ya ok.
