D2S HID bulb question!

I'm retrofitting some TSX projos to my CL and was wondering...

Are the Phillips 6000k D2S HID bulbs really that much better than the generic 6k bulbs than come with HID conversion kits? I mean, are they really worth getting another set for $180+?

I had the Ultinons in my Acura, but I bet there was no diff in that and in different cheaper bulbs.

I think the $300 I paid came with a warranty.

I have this question also.

What's the difference between these $150 bulbs and those $50 ebay specials?

6000k Philips Ultinons are rated to produces 2400 lumens (light intensity) at 6000k (color).

Most generic taiwanese 6000k bulbs (D2S,D2C etc) would produce around 2200 lumens at 6000k.

To put the above figures in prespective.

A standard halogen bulb produces 1200 ~ 1400 lumens.

My advice to you is to stop shooting for higher kelvin bulbs and opt for a set of Phillips 85122+ D2S bulbs, they tend not to colorshift (loose their intensity over their lifespan) and a set can be had for $50~$60. 85122+ ones are rated at 3400 lumens at 4250k.

Higher kelvin (color) = lower intensity

Is the correct bulb for an '01 CL the D2R, or D2S? My headlight is not turning on with every other attempt to turn them on. I am thinking the light is going out, but then some posts here mention maybe the ballast...

Suggestions...?

^^ For 01 CL it is indeed D2R, symptoms indicate it could be the ballast which is about to go out. Dealer will ask for an arm and a leg for a CL ballast, try your luck on ebay.
