there's gonna be a ton of dirt, grime, leaves, sticks, rocks and shit under there. The paint will be scratched, rubbed raw and chalky looking.

buffing it out will help to make it look better but the damage is likely done. How is the rest of the paint?

You're in for a lot of buffing. I'm not sure I would go the route of using a compound until you remove all the dirt and grime. And even then, maybe clay bar it instead of compound.

WOW, why would you ever do that? You arent suppose to even let them get wet. You should keep it on for a MAX of 1 week, then take it off when you wash the car and re-wax.

Yeah it's going to be jacked. My mom had one on her Grand Am and when she took it off it was pretty nasty. Plus the paint will more than likely be darker than the rest of the car due to normal fading over the years.

Yes but they need to be regularly taken off and washed/waxed, etc....if it's not properly taken care of, you're def going to see a color difference. Salt, dirt, nastyness gets stuck up there and without proper care it just stays there.
