Cruise Control
On most cars, you need to push to turn on cruise control but still need to press down in order to set the speed. I'm wondering why one should have to press down to set it, why not just have it set automatically whenever you take your step off the gas and let cruise turn off normally when you step on the brakes.
Seems like a useless feature to me. Can anyone enlighten me as to why you need to press down to "set" cruise control speed.

Hm my car you need to push the main power switch then push the set button. If you dont push set its not going to keep a speed. Also on mine if you push the breaks it doesnt turn off the main power switch just the set button. What car brand are you talking about? Is it by any chance toyota?

Actually you don't...
In a lot of cars you and single and double tap the "set/accel" button and it will go up 2.5 and 5mph accordingly. It's even in the owners manual

I think you mean that turning on the cruise "power" should set the speed at that time?
In my Acura the cruise "power" button is on the dash, the set accel etc are on the wheel. I wouldn't want to have to reach to the dash every time I want to set or change my cruise speed. The OLD GMs had the activate button in the end of the turn signal stem, which was weird...
