Ferrari Crashes, Closes Part Of P.C.H.
(CBS) MALIBU, Calif. A section of Pacific Coast Highway was closed Tuesday after a single-vehicle car crash, officials said.
Paramedics were sent to P.C.H. at Decker Road at 6:15 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Ron Haralson said.
The vehicle, a Ferrari, may have been traveling at nearly 200 mph and was badly damaged. One person suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, according to a deputy at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, who said the motorist's whereabouts were unknown.

car must be built pretty safe, I mean surviving a near-200 mph crash is not very likely..

After surviving a 200 mph crash, I wonder if he'll ever do that again?

Good for him, but don't do it on the Highway with a million other motorists going 1/4 the speed he was and put their lives in danger as well.
I'm sure he figured it was early and the road was relatively empty and he wasn't putting anyone else in danger, but you just never know...those cars a couple of miles ahead of you come up pretty fucking fast when you're doing 180+

I was wondering that myself...
Did the driver get thrown from the car and the person treated at the scene a passenger?
Was the car stolen and the driver fled by foot after crashing it?
We need answers (and more pics) dammit!

News stories always exagerate the speed to make it a better story. I was in a fairly bad crash 5 years ago and the news report said I was going over 100mph when in fact I was going 45mph and the only reason the accident happened is because the road was prepped to be paved the next day and wasn't marked as such... So take some of these news specualtions with a grain of salt.

"We have the passenger, who told us the driver did flee from the scene," Sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks said.

If the driver was the actual owner of the Enzo, do you think he would run? And if he would, why? It's fairly obvious owns the car with a simple run of the plates/VIN. I know it's LA, but there can't be THAT many Enzo's running around out there.

HOLY s453984yt... yeah. he even put different wheels on it... not that that is relevant. yea I'm thinking the driver either didn't own the car (i.e. stolen) or was drunk..

Even between 70-80 mph yo ucan rip a car in half, i've seen it happen on a tree before. Hence the power pole in this crash. You just have to hit it right...

ya, he was on something... at least that's my guess as well. No other reason to leave the scene otherwise.

damn, those pics are incredible.
Could you even imagine what is going through your mind just before you hit a pole going over 100 mph. Not to mention what is going through your mind when you get out of your car and see what you just did... I think I'd get physically ill...

Given the apparent speed and objects involved in the crashes where Ferraris have ripped in half, I think they do better than 99% of cars would at those speeds. The Enzo has a safety cell that borrows from F1, the worst F1 accidents have the engine split from the drivers cell...
I do hate to see another Enzo drop of the face of the earth in any case.

Its amazing how well the car held up that the driver(it seems) fled the scene with minimal injuries. I mean he couldn't have been to fucked up if he left

...and those custom wheels make some-what of a one-of-a-kind...
You'd think some enthusiast in LA would know who's car that is just from seeing it around town.
