Cracked Windshield At Lease End / Turn In

Does anyone have experience with dealing with a cracked windshield at lease end?

It costs approx $250+ to get a new windshield installed locally here myself.

Has anyone ever been charged for a cracked windshield at lease end when you turned in your vehicle? If so, what was the cost incurred?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure, but if you did turn it in cracked & they charge you it will cost more then getting it done yourself. Call the leasing company & ask. Then get it in writing.

I got my windshield replaced with $0 deductible through my insurance company. Might want to call your rep and see what you can do.

I called in reference to that but they couldn't give me any estimated penalty prices until I actually turned it in and the vehicle is inspected.

But you're probably right.. I was thinking it will probably be more.

Just seems like a bummer to have to pump in $250 on a repair and have to turn it in the next day..

I guess it could be worse!

As for insurance, I kept $1000 deductible on the vehicle in question.

Ask your insurance CO if they cover no fault glass. In FL it's covered with comprehensive. I don't pay anything, zero, & if the glass needs to be replaced it's covered with no bad marks.
If they are telling you the dealer has the say then get it pre inspected & ask the dealer that does it & then if they say it's ok get that in writing so you can prove it.

This is true. As long as you have comprehensive insurance (required if you lease), most insurance companies will fix your windshield w/o a deductible. It's a safety issue, and they really want people to fix it. If you choose not to, the leasing co will surely charge you more than if you did it yourself.

Thanks, guys!

Well it was worth a shot I guess.

My insurance company says there is NO no-fault glass repair/safety hazard/windshield repair coverage under comprehensive for the State of Nevada (which I am in).

99% of the bank's will charge for a cracked windshield, I deal with it all the time. You should have glass insurance through your auto insurance company...
