Cousin needs to buy a new car. HELP

My cousin now drives an 03 Suburban and the gas prices are so ridiculous now that they want to trade it in for something new. The one problem is that they got new wheels on the Suburban (ugly IMO) and want to get something that the wheels will look good on. They also want something with better gas mileage that can also carry 3-5 kids at a time plus cargo. Any ideas? I cant think of anything that meets all of their needs

Here is the Suburban with the wheels.

The wheels are really wide too.

So your cousin is buying a new vehicle based on the wheels.

That's like buying a house because it matches their patio furniture.

Punch your cousin in the mind and tell them to get a clue.

Tell him to put up a few kids for adoption, it'll greatly open up his vehicular options

I think your cousin's priorities are a little off. The only thing those wheels are going to fit is another behemoth, so obviously it isn't going to help his situation.

He should get rid of the Suburban AND the wheels and buy something that suits his needs a little more realistically. Maybe one of the newer domestic crossovers or even a V6 Dodge Magnum might fulfill his requirements.

he can get a 4 door impala, caprice, monte carlo, crown victoria, seville, etc. those have ample room for the kids and a large trunk so he can turn it into a donk with those wheels.

i think suburbans have 6X139/5.5?

I would go w/ a 4runner w/ the third row. I think the wheels would fit? although I'm not sure about the offset/backspace of those wheels so I can't guarantee they will fit.

I would have to agree with everyone else here to ditch the wheels and buy the car he wants.

Not-so-bright cousin should:
1) Buy a minivan (room for everyone + cargo with better MPG than trucks)
2) Get stock wheels back on the Suburban, then sell it
3) Sell aftermarket wheels to someone with a Suburban, Denali, Yukon, etc.

ditch the wheels, look into the GMC Acadia or Buick Encave or Enclave or whatever it's call... (then there's the Saturn version too) their suppose to be decent mpg for their size...

also look for cars/SUVs/mini vans that have the cylinder deactivation feature (like the Honda Odyssey)

If gas mileage was a priority, he would not have bought that truck and those wheels.

That being said, is300 has a valid point. If hauling kiddies is your cousin's need, and mileage is a priority, then a minivan is a better choice than a Stupid Useless Vehicle.

I have (well, OK, the wife) has a Honda Odyssey and it fulfills the need without being overt in any way. It sets all 5 of us and we can take stuff with us.

Is he retarded? choosing a car for the wheels? Even so, he could get the same model in the size for the new car...what am I missing here??

Why not sell the wheels and use that money to help with downpayment, or if he really wants buy new wheels for whatever he trades for?

Either way, if gas mileage is the concern I really don't see those wheels fitting or looking good on anything that would get noticeably better mileage than the Suburban.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one that thinks those wheels are hideous. He just bought the wheels like two weeks ago so he didnt want to get rid of them so soon. Thanks for everyones opinions but I give up on him

I'm wondering to myself what did he pay for the wheels that he just bought? He could justify buying the wheels for this truck but can't afford the gas to drive it?

Your cousin needs to get his priorities straight and take care of all those kids.

With that said, he could downsize to a 2wd Tahoe-but he may gain 1 or 2 mpg at best. As mentioned above, with that many people to hall the best choice for him is to get minivan and sell the wheels to some other baller-wanna-be.

First: Your cousin is retarded.

Now that that's out of the way..........Sell the SUV with or without the wheels. Either way to buy a car based on some aftermarket wheels (Ugly ones too) is dumb.

Enclave or Oddy....the Oddy is the far better choice.

With only 24mpg on the highway, I don't see that as being enough difference to justify $.50+ per gallon for regular gas v. diesel.
