Corvette ZR-1 vs. Corvette C5 video
Not 100% sure but I have read that the mods are:
The ZR-1 has cat-back exhaust only, and the C5 had headers, exhaust, intake and a few other goodies.

The later model ZR1 (405hp/385lb-ft) was good for 180mph in Motor Trend. But the earlier ZR1 (375hp/370lb-ft) ran a 12.8sec@113.8mph.
IMO, the debut of the Z06 enabled the C5 to finally reach (maybe beat) the performance of the ZR1. FYI: The ZR1 is the only Vette with a Lotus designed DOHC 32 valve V8 motor (LT5); it's a shame GM didnt further develop this motor. $.02

ZR1 vs C5
Believe it guys, ZR1's are top end crazy. I have owned 3 at the same time
and have continued to hold onto my '91. I bought and sold a '93 and a '94 just
as investments.
I have dragged raced my '91 many many times on the strip. All I have done to
it is a custom Doug Rippie chip and a full cat back 3" exhaust. Qtr times are 12.6's
@ 115mph. When the C5's first hit the streets I had a number of freeway confrontations
with them as they were to be the new "king of the hill". All I can say is: 32 valves and
4 cams turning through a very sweet 6 spd gear box makes for some nasty ass MPH,
given the space. Keep in mind that a stock geared LT5 goes through the traps in 3rd gear
@ nearly 7,000 rpm. Stock C5's cannot keep up with that kind of rpm. When challenged on the freeway I usually drop down to about 45-50mph, drop it into 2nd gear and wait for
the opposition to go first. Most C5's stay with me up to about 100 or so, then the breathing ability of the LT5 takes over.
BTW, the early models, 90's & 91's are the quickest on the strip, but the 405hp '93
to '95 have proven to be best at the top end. Whatever, both are great kicks to drive
and will damn well give you respect for brute ass power. If you add even a modest amount of nitrous, wow, hold onto your cup holders! They get really insane when a 150 shot is added. Yoy are for sure playing with the "big dogs" then.

The ZR1 is on my SHORT LIST of GM cars that I'd love to own, alongside the 89 Turbo TA, Z06, Syclone, Typhoon and GNX.
