Cops clock man driving 137 mph in '93 Honda Civic

GREENVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - State police have ticketed an upstate New York man for driving more than twice the 65-mph speed limit on an interstate highway. Troopers said a 21-year-old man was clocked doing 137 mph on Interstate 84 in Orange County on Tuesday. He was pulled over in the westbound lanes near Exit 2 in the town of Greenville, on the New Jersey border 60 miles northwest of New York City.

Troopers said the man was driving a 1993 Honda Civic.

The man was ticketed for speeding, reckless driving and having vehicle windows with illegal tint.

He's due to appear in Greenville Town Court on Feb. 25.

There was no telephone listing for the man.

I cant believe a 1993 civic can go that fast.

Or a boosted D-series. With either, 137mph is easily attainable.

Ironically, I've traveled at my highest speeds in a few of my cars while on the NYS Thruway.....that is until the troopers began using LIDAR a couple of years ago.

You'd be amazed what a few V-tec stickers on your car will do for your top speed!!!

civic's always get engines swapped into them, i dunno why the OP is so surprised.
my buddy has a 97 civic with a k in it that he buried the speedo, and it wasn't close to done yet @130mph
And if it was stock, with illegal tint, then to the 21 year old driving an old ass civic

I love how they tack on the tint ticket as insult to injury.

Also, don't you guys pay attention? valeratj sold his Civic! That's how he paid for his TSX, all by his very self.

137 might be possible. When I got my '92 Si when I was 18, I pegged the speedo at 135. It's probably not accurate at that speed, but that's what it showed.

I was in a '95 EX sedan more than 10 years ago, my friend was driving. Top speed topped out at 125mph and it couldn't go any faster.

Oh and it was the scariest shit ever. The car was floating all over the place and felt like it had no brakes when a car merged from an on ramp. I would've have sat in his car if I knew he was going be stupid like that...

I seriously thought I was going to die..

considering it also got ticketed for the heavy tinted windows, i'll assume its modified
and its driven by a 21 year old, not a 16 year old so there could possibly be some decent engine mods

so whats the big deal?
that or a mustang gt would be the two most obvious cars i'd assume would get ticketed for such an act.
or an srt4...
or valertj

I hit 124 miles an hour in my friends 1994 Toyota piece of shit Camry. Granted it was slightly downhill on Hwy 50 but still. With a motor I have no doubt a civic could it at least 137.

I had an '88 Accord with a whopping 98 hp.. speedometer said 130 but I'm sure it was more like 120.

And no this was not on public roads.
