considering selling the my sti dd..need advice
I am really sick of shifting since I am always on the phone and I want to sell my daily driver wrx sti and get something auto. I really want something that is still fun to drive and has some power. It must be awd since I take back roads to work every day. Keep in mind I drive 30-40kmi a year.

Not sure how the 996 TT is for a daily but that would be my first choice as I wished i had done that. Then again i dont DD my 335i anymore.
Care about gas mileage? S4 is bad.
335i is a good balance between them all.

S4 all the way. Extended warranty manditory of course. Its the most logical choice; excellent engine and chassis, proven (and SIMPLE) 4wd system, ample passenger and cargo room with the A4 sedan body, and no turbos to complicate things (like servicing).
Lots of people are probably going to chirp about getting the BMWs, but forget that. S4 all day long.

Haven't personally drive one, but I'd believe it would be an overall upgrade (esp in terms of luxury) with about the same performance of a STi.
Plus the wifey can drive it.
I would assume the 335xi (awd versions?) would suffer more drive train loss? So I'd assume you'd lose some performance compared to the STi.
Otherwise 996 TT, if you dont mind losing 2 doors and the back seat... and letting your wife drive it.

I just voted for 335 xi coupe, but to be honest with you I have not tried any of those vehicles personally. However, it seems like everyone here is getting 335 anyway, so you might as well as follow the trend and go with 335 coupe.
p.s. at first glance I thought you said you are selling your STD

One of my friends has a 08 S4 and it doesn't really do much for me, its nice but I would go BMW before I went S4. The 996TT is laughable when you call it your DD in upstate NY and how much you drive, yes they are reliable compared to other exotics, but still not what your used to. With the Elise in the stable I would go with a 335xi or 535xi(if you need space and ever haul people), if you want more from it chip it and call it a day. Sedan or coupe, I prefer the coupe but don't know what your needs are.

porshce if you think you can do it.
otherwise s4>335
but it's pretty close.
i wouldn't buy a brand new one however. Since you are gonna run it into the ground i would suggest a getting a slightly used one and save 10k and then run it into the ground. There are great deals on these cars w/ like 5k miles on them.

I'm on the 996tt bandwagon. Porsches (any modern Porsche) is quite capable of being a daily driver. All you need is some snow tires and you're good to go in the snow.

Yeah, you get the extra booty on a AWD model.
I know people in NH who drive a Boxster year round even during a snow storm. If you think about the weight distribution, they are probably easier to drive in the snow than a BMW 335i.

Last time I checked a 335xi sedan wasn't 30k
Anyways, you know my choice, 996TT all days of the week if you can do it. Go for a test drive.
Because you have kids, my second choice would be an M3 sedan with the DCT transmission.
or an AT 335xi sedan
