Complimentary 45-Point Checkup

Got it in the mail today from Acura. It says April is customer appreciation month and that means a free 45-point check up on the Acura including vacuum and wash. Also includes a free oil and filter certificate to be used on my next visit. Anyone else get this? Obligation free you think? Sounds too good to be true.

I'm sure they'll find something wrong. It's a business.

"Sir by the way, during our free check-up we found that your brakes are very low and dangerous. For only $399.00 we'll be glad to take care of it for you"

Of couse you will say no, but they are gambling that many people will say "Sure go right ahead."

Also, it doesn't hurt that while you wait for your car, you will be checking out all of the new models on the floor.

I've done it. They do the service, but they're not very nice about it.

Few years ago I received the same mailer for Civic I had. Basically I dropped off the car and after 2-hours got a report what was wrong with it and what needed replacement or some attention. I declined all the repairs at the dealership and did them myself at the later time.

This answer is 100% accurate.

These things are all about marketing. It may or maynot be worth your time to get this done. The free oil and filter is nice, but I would decline the wash by there "scratch O matic" system anyway as I do with any visit. Im guessing your out of warrenty right? The dealer wouldnt waste there time doing something like this if they had to fix the problems on there dime anyway.
Edit: I didn't see you had a 99, so yeah your only getting this cause your out of warrenty

They are just looking for the old ladies that take their cars to the dealer for everything. I once saw the acura dealership charge a woman $600 to "winterize" her car.

I thought it might be a good item to show someone if I decided to sell in the near future because they give you a "detailed report"
