civicdrivr's Z3 thread
I was too anxious to get the parts on to dyno it stock. Im pissed at myself, but
I do plan on getting it dyno'd as is so I have a baseline before I do anything else. I may do that this week, if I have the time. If I had to guess, Id say Im making ~175whp & 140wtwq. Hopefully my butt-dyno is still calibrated

Im toying with the idea of picking up an actual microphone to use with my DSLR since the built in mic sucks. I can stick the camera in the trunk, microphone suction cupped to the outside of the car along with the GoPro and dub the sound. That way, I get great sound and I don't have to worry about having my regular camera hanging outside the car. The GoPro videos are pretty good too, its just the sound thats lacking IMO.
Forgot to add - I have ordered two more mods

One is for aesthetics, and the other doesn't add power, but it is performance related. The first one already shipped, the second once should ship the first week of October.
Shots from the FR-S First Drive event that I went to this weekend:

Our "test" cars:

Someone got cone happy:

You got one of these hats Morgan?
:

Couple things to note:
-All test cars were equipped with Enkei lightweight wheels wrapped in Yokohama S.Drive tires.
-All cars were equipped with TRD loweing springs (0.5 inch drop) and TRD catback exhaust. The demo guys said that the exhaust will be avaliable starting next week. Sounds good, a bit louder then my HKS Superdraggers and the tone was good.
-TRD 18s will be avaliable next year.
-Demo guys made note to point out certain parts of the car like the position of the interior door handles for the ease of installing a cage, the capacity of the truck/folding rear to hold a set of track wheels with jack, the intake cabin sound tube and aero design items on the car such as winglettes on the rear lights, the design of the roof, and the recessed wipers and windshield molding.
Driving impressions:
Gutless like Morgan has complained about. Steering was quick and tight. Shifting in manual mode is nice (only autos were avaliable), much quicker then the CL. Driving position is very low, makes my CL feel like an SUV. Demo guys pointed out that you are only sitting about 9 inches off the ground.

But I dont wear hats anyway.I hate the sound tube. Its much nicer with it removed. I feel the same way getting into the CL. I always thought the seating position in it was excellent and pretty low. Then I got in the FR-S.
It sucks that only autos were available, but apparently the auto tranny is very good. I need to find one to test drive.
There are two different types of TRD parts.
1) The gimmicky shit they sell here in the US
2) The real stuff that actually works made by TRD Japan
Unfortunately the TRD Japan stuff comes with the JDM tax. They have some amazing looking parts, but I can't justify the money when I can get parts that are just as good from a third party. There are plenty of US based companies that are building quality parts for this car, so I'd rather support them then the big corporations since theyre both cheaper and easier to get.
Ummm. Previous page?
Yes, its Whiteout. Its got tons of pearl in it.
Chill, I gots dis
Nice pics btw, Aaron! I'm going to try to get some more pics of the car today. With any luck I can take my time setting up the shot to get decent pics.

I have seen the white one, but a pearl white, beautiful color, although i would've been torn between the orange and the asphalt (thats your color right, Morgan?)
I see your point on the trd tax and supporting us companies, but which ever has.the better looking parts is where you should where you buy, money is always a factor, but buy what you like and you'll always be happy.
