BTW, someone asked this somewhere else and I didnt want to hijack the OPs thread, so I figured I'd respond here:
Both have their flaws. I've been driving the FR-S exclusively since the end of May. The CL hasnt even been started since June 2nd. It hasnt left my driveway since May 29th.
For all out straight line speed, as of right now, the CL would absolutely destroy the FR-S. My CL also gets better gas mileage, but thats because I have to floor the FR-S all over the place to get it to do what the CL does at half throttle. Keep in mind though, Im comparing my CL to it. Stock vs stock, it would be closer (but the CL would still win).
The shifter in my CL (solid bushings, pspec short shifter) is more precise then the stock FR-S shifter. But I replaced the shifter bushing on the FR-S and they are about even now. But the CL tranny (and just about any Honda manual tranny) is still smoother.
Handling goes to the FR-S hands down. Stock vs stock, modded vs stock, modded vs modded - doesnt matter. The FR-S still out handles the CL. I consistently toss it into corners at 55-60 that the CL couldnt handle at 45.
Interior is a draw IMO. The layout in both is great, and I have tons of room in either. If you're looking for luxury though, the FR-S isnt it. Quite frankly, neither is the CL since you can get more features in an Accord.
Exterior goes to the FR-S as well. Looks are subjective, but Im sure most of us can agree that the CL is a boring looking car. Thats not necessarily a bad thing since it can easily pass by unnoticed. The FR-S draws attention every time I take it out. Ive gotten used to it but it's still annoying at times.
I know that doesnt really answer your question, but I cant choose one over the other. The only way I can definitively answer is to wait until the FR-S is 10 years old.

^^^ great review but the only thing is you are comparing a 2012 model to a 2002 model....
if the 2002 model comes close to providing stuff like the 2012 model, its a clear win in my head....

I could compare a newer car (8G Accord 6MT coupe), but IMO that ranks lower then the CL

By that logic you can no longer post as it is all in there and therefore a repost.

I should have new pics this evening after I wash the car. I did one very small mod today. Im still waiting on other parts that are being built now, but the wait is very annoying.
Oh, and I think I've decided which direction to go with the powertrain

I washed the car and took some pics. I rushed both since I was running out of light.
There are two things on the car that are different. Can you spot them?

I actually wasnt counting the spacers since I already mentioned those (I think). But youre looking in the right area for one of the changes.
![Ninja](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ninja.gif)
Ill give you a hint for the other change: It can only be seen in two of the pictures and it measures 1.5" long.
