I'm still on the fence about boosting it. Accelerated Performance in Ohio has a turbo kit (first to market too), on 4psi it put down just shy of 220whp. Once ECUTek (the tuning program) can control more boost, theyre going to bump it up to ~8psi and see what it can do. The power is very linear, there is no lag or sudden bump in power. The graph actually looks like an NA motor. And that 220whp figure was with everything else being stock. No header, no exhaust. The turbo is fed off of the over-pipe, which cuts down cost since you dont need to run a dedicated turbo manifold. With aftermarket parts, Id be surprised if it doesnt hit 235whp on the same 4psi.

BUT, Im in talks with another shop about going a completely different direction. And I mean a complete 180.....but Im waiting for them to answer a few more of my questions.
Man, that would be awesome. To have so much low-end torque...

But a 180? So an N/A setup?

Dang, Morgan! Just saw the pics and you have done an outstanding job in a very short period of time. I'm impressed.

The car would look even lower, but I couldnt drive. Its not so much that the roads here are really bad or anything. Its that Im a very aggressive driver, and wheels wont last very long

Especially with the spoiler, its a dead ringer for the Z4 coupe from the rear.

He replied back and said that was nothing - for every 4 FR-S models Scion gets, Subaru gets 1 BRZ.

What the hell are they doing.
It was the deal Toyota made with Subaru. For the first year Toyota would get the bulk of the cars. Next year it should even out.

^^^ if i had to guess, it would be a higher CR bottom end build with a bored and stoked motor (not stoker motor)....running a pretty aggressive cam setup....ported and polished errthing....pushing down around more than 250whp on that thing....

^^ Id love to do that, but we are currently suffering from a lack of parts for that sort of build. If anything, Id have to wait about 2 years for the parts to hit the market and drop to a palletable price point.

Boost is a much easier way to make power

I love the livery. It's put together very very well. Little bit of crazy but not too much to distract you from the cars lines.

I went to the dealer today to have two TSBs tended to.

First TSB - Condensation in the tail light. Most of the early cars will have this issue, it just varies on when it will rear its ugly head. The condensation showed up Sunday night and hasnt gone away. Basically, the assembly was bolted down incorrectly on the assembly line, which results in a crack in the back of housing.

Toyota caught the issue rather quickly (theres a guy on FT86Club that has connections in Toyota Japan and spoke with the lead engineer), and issued a TSB that says to replace the entire assembly.

Second TSB - Daytime running light delete. Toyota actually offers a DRL delete to customers, but it requires a new gateway ECU. If you have one of the earlier cars, just take it in and tell them you want the DRL delete, tsb # S-SB-00009-12. Supposedly the new ECU unlocks some more features, and Ive got a copy of Toyota TechStream program and a cable coming in next week that'll allow me to play with it

The ECU is in Cali and should be here relatively quickly. The tail light though.........isn't in the country. No ETA

Some people just don't deserve Accords

Always wondered what happens to the employees who are responsible for the errors that result in recalls and TSBs? Are they fired? Reprimanded? I can't imagine this stuff would be cheap to fix on a few hundred or thousand cars.

I've always wondered this myself, especially in a factory that doesn't have unions. I'd assume they were reprimanded.

Some regions got more then one. But four of them is odd. How are you determining theyre First 86 cars?

Thats on every single car. As of now, the only way to distinguish a First 86 car from another FR-S is by the license plate bracket, which its up to the owners discretion to mount it. Scion may or may not come up with some sort of badging specifically for the First 86 cars, but I wont put anything on the outside of the car. Ill take a numbered interior badge though.

Woops. I assumed the 86 badge meant it was one of first 86 silly me. Yes, I know the toyota version is called 86.
