doesn't the 991.1 GT3 have engine failure issues? IIRC Porsche is warrantying them for 10 years so thats about to run out.
Right, that’s what I was trying to say. They do have a G6 motor that’s supposed to be good, but apparently it’s not 100%. I know a few folks with 991.1 gt3 and they drove them hard in hope of blowing the engine out and getting a new one under warranty.
I would say it’s less likely the car has been treated this way with sofa seats and no cage / racing harness, but I also know some folks that drive them like they stole them and never been to a track and have the power seats in them…
Personally, I like the lag, I find it’s just another thing to play with. I mean not when it’s super horrible, like the first 800hp supras back in the days where you planted your foot and you went from barely able to keep up with a Corolla to wheel spin in 5th gear after 15 seconds.
One thing that interested me on the tune was that it helps make the power feel more linear and reduces the turbo lag.
Stock It can be quite noticeable with the lag. Although but I vaguely recall reading newer models were slightly revised to have less lag.
I agree with Phil, I actually kind of like turbo lag. Gives the car some character in how it drives. Not like you're taking it to the track for outright lap times right? The M2 has a lot of that old school turbo feel where you get a whole lot of nothing and then a big shove into the seat, it's one of my favorite parts.
The first turbo I remember driving was my cousins 1995 turbo AWD talon. He had some mods to it and I loved just keeping it in 5th on the highway, mash foot and get the slingshot rubberband effect accompanied by a great spooling noise.
My parents also had an S70 T5. The 2.3L turbo engine was low compression, high pressure turbo. Unfortunately the turbo sounds were too muffled for my taste but, it was pretty cool to feel it pull at low rpm cruising on the highway.
honestly, I would have loved if TL-S would have been rwd and turbo.
I do understand the other side too though, it is pretty cool to rev out an NA engine and hear it scream.
I had a close call due to turbo lag in college.
Was driving a 944 Turbo & taking a 270* exit off the highway.
Downshift to 3rd, apply some throttle, boost kicked in & the rear end kicked out
Definitely a pucker moment in a car that isn't yours.
How do you tow with the 911 and Cayman?
I’m assuming there’s a connection point behind the rear plate?
if I get serious about tracking my car I may consider this.
I seent these two pics online.
This is from a screen grab of a video a friend sent to me of this guy towing stuff to the track.
Lol, yeah behind the plate is the screw hole for the rear tow hook. I’m not sure how you prevent it from unscrewing though.
‘personally, if I was serious about track, I would trailer the whole car. With that said I don’t have room for a trailer or a tow vehicle. But it wasn’t super pleasant driving home almost 3.5 hours from sebring in limp mode. It wasn’t super easy getting up to highway speed, last thing I would have wanted is to haul a tiny trailer. Also, the one behind the GT3 is so narrow and the distance from the trailer attachment to the trailer axle is so short I bet you can get a nice wobble / sway effect with it.
When going to Autocross or track days with my cousin back I’m the days I’d offer see those sort of trailers pulled behind Miata’s or Z3s. It was definitely cool to see, I just hoped they didn’t have too far to go
Yeah...that all looks like a terrible idea. The tow hook isn't for towing things for any period of time, it's for towing the car out in an emergency lol.
If you want to seriously track then I agree, get a tow rig and pull the whole car there. If not, grab some good tires and have fun before driving home.
So I started the process to tune my 992.1 T today. Since we are not a PC house and an Apple house instead, I had to go find a cheap laptop to run the software to update the reader and receive the download from my car to send in to Softronic. Little trial and error but halfway there, just waiting for Scott @ Softronic to send me my tune then I can download it on to the reader and upload it to my car. Can't wait!

@Chief F1 Fan I just got an invite from Porsche to a driving experience at Sonoma Raceway. It’s 4 hours long. Have you gotten any invites to events like this?
just wondering what cars I’d be driving and what to expect. Hopefully driving 911s and not the EV Macan or Taycan
Says it’s free too so I might as well go because why not
I got an invite @Mizouse for a Porsche school last year but couldn't go to Watkins Glen. I doubt it would be an EV as most tracks don't allow them so likely 911's and Caymans I'd guess. You can't beat free! Sonoma would be My brother just ran an SVRA event there last weekend.

Flash is done, took it for a 37 mile ride to get the ECU to unlearn its old tricks and learn some new ones Torque is incredible, it gets up to very fast speeds a lot quicker than before. I noticed immediately the feeling of getting pushed back in to the seat is now a lot greater. All in all, very happy.

unrelated to your car or the ECU upgrade you did, but I find the TL has a lot of the acceleration early in the throttle movement and the last 1/3 adds very little to the acceleration.
Had to cut our vacay short so came home and on dry roads today, I got to really put the T through its paces. The push back in to the seat in 2-4 is incredible. I left it in 4th on an uphill road I drive regularly then floored it, unbelievable torque and go. This is an incredible mod, I wholeheartedly endorse it. I cannot wait to get this thing on the track at the Glen, it's going to be epic, especially coming out of the toe (turn 7).
