The Check Engine Light came on in my 96 Accord...what could it be?

I bought a 1996 Accord EX 2 door coupe in September with 103,000 miles. The previous owner replaced the timing belt and did the 100K mile service. While I was driving home from work today the CES light came on. I hope its nothing major...ie. under $200!!! Just last month I had to replace the drivers side window motor....this better not be a once a month something breaks car!

Replace the engine.

Nicky how we suppose to know! Get it scanned, i think autozone will do it for you.

Report back and tell us what the fault codes are.

Take it to AutoZone and they will check the code for free. If its running alright it's probably an O2 sensor or emissions code.

Sounds like your Accord could be under Honda's emission's warranty. Call and ask your dealer to see if your car is qualified for the emissions warranty. Honda's warranty calls for 14 years or 150,000 miles. All emissions items are covered free of charge.
