Unhappy 'check emissions system'

Hey
Absolutely adore my 06' TSX - milano red!
Took her in on June 5th for oil change, emissions & inspection.
Last Fri the 13th [go figure] the 'check emissions system' indicator light comes on. Service was closed so I called Sat morning and was told to just tighten the gas cap and light would be off in 100 - 200 miles. I ALWAYS click my gas cap multiple times to ensure there are no issues.
Needless to say, light is still on and I'm taking her in tomorrow. Has anyone had this issue???
Any suggestions on what it might be?

Have the codes pulled and see what the story is, there are literally hundreds of things a CEL can be, your just guessing with the gas cap.

Yeah, could be many things. The gas cap can go bad, too. Happened on my 04' Tundra work truck. Bought a new one, and the check engine light went away.

If youve tightened the gas cap, unhook the battery to reset the PCM/ECU whatever manually and see if it comes back.

It's really tough to say. See what the dealership says. I'm guessing you are still under warranty, so hopefully it won't be a big deal.

I would suggest not doing this, have the codes pulled by a code scanner, many parts stores offer this service for free. If you reset the computer with out knowing what triggered it to come on in the first place your just chasing your tail. As a whole Honda's have very reliable emission control devices, chances are high it is something very simple and/or covered under warranty.

My logic with that is that if its a big deal, the code will return. If it was a gas cap leak, it wont.

I just had the same exact problem on my 06 TSX and it turned out to be the coolant sensor. My advice is to take it to Autozone and get the code read for free, and if it's not something that's easily fixed, take it to the dealer, will most likely be covered under warranty.

Did you remove the gas cap and re-tighten it? Or did you just tighten it more? Sometimes you can over-tighten it.
