So, something blew up in my car a few weeks ago. Thought it was my tranny, but just in case it's something attached to the transmission and not the transmission itself, I'll post symptoms here. I haven't messed with it since I got it towed back to my apartment complex, but I will when I get off of work.

Car is an '01 CL-S. Posted here since it's a general transmission thing, not CL-S specific.

- It's a bitch to move the shifter up and down.
- Clunks when the shifter does move.
- Car can be rolled on Neutral, don't know about Drive. I think it does.
- Haven't checked tranny fluid yet.
- Car will not move in D4, D5. Haven't tested D1-3 and Reverse yet, not sure if it matters.

Forgot probably the most important part: No codes are thrown, check engine light is NOT on.

 

Linkage ???
Smell the fluid and inspect for metal particles and color changes.

 

That's what I'm suspecting. I did a quick search, but it's generally a cheap repair .. right?

 

Some new details:

- Loud kind of whirring sound while in Drive outside of car
- Still no CEL
- Speedometer actually moves when I rev, miles are added onto the odometer

It's dark out .. can't check tranny fluid closely. =/
