Car in limp mode

I have an 06 Acura TL with about 90k miles on it. My car went into limp mode on the middle of the freeway - on the dash came the check engine light and VSA light. I turned the car off and it was fine.

Took it to the dealer where they're doing a diagnostic and they're not able to replicate the problem. They're guessing I need to replace the APP. I'm not able to do this myself. Anyone have any idea on what this will cost me?

It's also in shop right now to replace the timing belt/water pump.

in the future, when your car throws a check engine light, you can have it read for free at any auto parts store, like autozone.

if they are in there right now changing the water pump and timing belt, there would be NO additional labor to change the APP sensor.

Thanks, I was actually much closer to the dealer and going to have the timing belt repaced so it turned out to be good timing. I'm one of those that for major things I like to take it to the dealer.. for the oil changed etc I use the local mechanic.

there shouldnt be ANY additional labor, because they are already performing work and there isnt a need to disassemble anything for the APP sensor as it sits right on top.
so, if you got quoted 1300 for the timing belt job, you should only be charged for the APP sensor and nothing else.

Also, that is HIGHWAY robbery. tell them to knock that price down!!!!! 1300 is a lot!

I closed this thread since it was reposted in 3G TL and is getting better answers and less pw'ing. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/car-went-into-limp-mode-908280/

I can't merge them since the timing of the posts would mess things up.

Good job, justin, replying in both copies of the same thread.
