in car ipod chargers..?

Hey i wasnt sure where to post this seeing as im not sure if it is a general problem.

I bought a Car charger for my ipod that has a USB plug adapter, so you plug the connector that comes with your ipod (to hook up to your computer) to the charger, and it chargers the ipod. That works well and fine BUT, when it is charging AND playing at the same time (or just plugged in to charge) i hear a loud-ish static noise coming through the speakers. You can hear it in the songs, and when no music is playing. When you disconnect the charger it goes away. So i was wondering if anyone else had problems like this? My ipod is an old 4Gig so its like 3-4 yrs old.

Any ideas?

Or buy a decent charger. I have 5 of those types & none of them do that.
