Car & Driver on G35

Nice car...look at those skidpad #'s. Our 6-spd CL-S still looks good on paper (and obviously, the styling isn't a drawback for us CLS owners).

CLS brakes suck.. road handling can be way much improved by a tires swap...

The best that Acura can do for the CLS/TLS is learn from Nissan and offer Brambo Brakes and 18" light wheel rims with option of Mich Pilot Sport A/S or summer only tires like the usual Pilot Sport.

Ah... Bump the HP to 300HP and give us an SMG....

I'd rather see the slalom numbers. Skidpad to me doesn't tell me much.

I'd be willing to guess the G35 and 330Ci pull MUCH better numbers in the slalom than the CLS6spd.

Now where's that issue of C&D???

That is a bullshit comparison.

Yeah, it was a 6-spd...just look at the 0-60 listed there. My auto doesn't do that!

I didn't post this to bash the G35 or anything. We all know these numbers should be taken with a grain of salt. It's just alot of the CL-S owners need a little lifting of the spirit sometimes when other cars are in the limelight. The CLS isn't quite as bad as everyone seems to make it out to be...

G35 vs cl type s

In the November 2002 issue of Road & Track they compared a 2001 Cl type s (auto) vs. a G35 coupe 6 speed manual.pg(86)

2001 CL Type S (AUTO) G35 6spd
0-60 (6.7) 0-60 (6.1)
1/4 (15.0@95.2mph) 1/4 (14.6@98.6mph)
.80g(skidpad) .92g(skidpad
Sounds like a Bullshit comparison to me

Now the G35 coupe is the better looking G35 and the better looking 350 Z. If you get a chance go drive one. Very aggressive and comfortable seats (you won't believe) I don't like Nissan but that G35 coupe is nice.

...so the auto CL-S is faster then the 6spd. G35?...it's obviously a driver's race cause the 2 #'s are too close to say who's faster...was the g35 broken in? (maybe they get faster after the break in like the s2000)...

p.s. i just saw a SHINY black g35 with 18's and brembos make a turn in front of me while i was at a red light...looks A LOT better in person then in the pictures (IMO)...
