Proof that simplicity can outperform any design.

Actually, the design was too simple-- too much front end lift at high speeds and not enough air into the engine compartment.

Still a beautiful car, though.

A former boss of mine had a Miura-- he got rid of it after only a year or so because the car hated Los Angeles traffic-- the mechanic recommended "Italian tune ups" to keep the engine in tune.

In the late 90's a fellow I worked with had a '67 Miura that he owned for years. The car was a PIA to drive, as the carbs had no chokes, starting the car cold and keeping it running was problematic, and the exhaust was quite loud. The actual exhaust tips were welded to the body and the exhaust actually exited the pipe from the engine and was drawn into the tips as they weren't connected at all. He didn’t drive it much because the suspension/frame certainly wasn't designed for the American roads that were filled with pot holes, and still are.

Google "GT40" when you get a chance.

However, most mid-engine supercars from the 1960s had a similar look due to packaging and aerodynamic reasons.
