Cadillac Dealer Mistake
A friend of mine just bought a new escalade. The one she was looking at had optional 20in rims on it. The dealer told her those were $3800 extra. She bought the escalade but said she didn't want the rims because she didn't want to spend $3800. She took delivery and signed everything but they never took the 20's off.
The next day she gets a call from her salesman who said her husband needs to come in to sign a release form so they could payoff her trade in. She asked if they could do it by fax, he wasn't sure so he said he would find out and call back. When called back a little while later he told her that they made a mistake and she needs to come in so they can put the 17in rims on because she didn't pay for the 20's.
She doesn't want to return them because she feels it's their mistake not hers so it's their problem. What should she do?

I havn't seen a new Escalade without the 20's on it, the 17's will look stupid. She should have bought a Yukon if she wants a stripped out Escalade to save her some money. They haven't finished the contract, so she need to get the wheels she paid for put on.

on to the next one...
For arguement sake...
Let's say they never realized she didn't pay for the rims and never asked for them back. Would you keep them, or would you return them out of the goodness of your heart?
As for me, if it were at the expense of a private party (i.e. not some company/dealership/retailer) I would return them cause I wouldn't want to fuck someone out of their $$.
BUT, if it were at the expense of a company (such as the case here) I would be a little less inclined to just give them back without being asked...Not saying I wouldn't do it, but I MIGHT be a little less likely to do so...
For instance, it may not be morally right, but when I walk out of Target, having just spent $150 there and realized that I have two cases of soda under my cart that I didn't pay for (accidentally), I don't go back in and requst to be charged for it...
What do ya think???

That was uncalled for...
If she wanted the 20's she should have ordered them...I cant imagine paying that much for an Escalade, then not opting for the 20's, her mistake for not originally buying them...

She is currently trying to work something out with them by paying either cost but they keep changing the amount that their cost is. So I don't know what she will do.

what goes around comes around
if she keeps them, its not right
i would be worried that the dealer knew my address, place of work...and would come damage them, or flatten the tires, cause i would highly doubt that they would just forget about it

If she's giving back the 20's, I hope she's spending the money she saved on them to buy at least some 22's. What's a Tahoe, Escalade, Yukon, H2, or any other big ass truck without some nice shiny rims?

Large business/corporate entity or not, its tantamount to theft. Weak.

Keep the wheels and that car will be black-balled. Mysteriously something will always happen when she takes the car in for service, and coincidentally those problems won't be covered under warranty. She'll be

If she didnt get charged for the rims...then she needs to take it back.
Now...If I noticed that the dealership charged me for the rims and never told me about it...then I would keep the rims and demand to be reimbursed.

(Disclaimer: This is SUCH a chick example, but it stands nonetheless)
Last month my mom and I went to the craft store and bought a bunch of stuff, including a big quilted bag to keep all my yarn in. We didn't have a basket so we started putting stuff in the bag as we walked it around the store. When we checked out, I took all the stuff out of the bag at the register and paid for everything... so I thought.
Then I got home and started organizing my new yarn bag, and realized that we had put a set of needles in a pocket and hadn't paid for them. I was pissed about it, but I did drive back to the craft store and bought them. Then I accidentally broke the only one we really needed about 15 minutes later.
