Holy shit, that quote about letting the F1 get to 65 before the Veryon even starts and the Buggati will beat the F1 to 190 and then leave the F1 in the dust past 190. Unfuckingbelievable considering the competition....

I have never been drawn to the Macca like most people, it is a car I almost fear to drive, based on accounts from highly capable drivers that have driven it. I prefer my car have more brakes than engine. I do a healthy respect for for what Gordon did in car terms a long time ago. The Bugg also doesn't grab me in that teenage poster on the wall lust of youth either. That much speed and quickness shouldn't be in a porky GT albeit the mother of all GTs.

Although neither car "should" have been built I do admire the engineering in the Bugg more, even given the time disparity between them. Resell not withstanding I would rather have an Enzo or a CGT. If I had to choose between the Macca and the Bugg I would probably take the road less traveled and pick the Bugg, I would never be able to exploit the F1's abilities, but I could enjoy the Veyron's best attribute...I can find a quiet road and feel the 0-150 Saturn V rocket push.

seriously though, a few comments - the Veyron weighs a third less than a Land Rover Discovery. Wow, the Veyron is so light!! also don't like that they compare its sound (or anything about it for that matter) to an F1 car. Powerboat, yes. F1, .

I do like that they used AP Racing brakes instead of the now-cookie-cutter "Brembo" standard... nice to have something different.

There's something odd about the Veyron. As bad ass as it is, as fast as it is, as technologically advanced as it is, I just don't get "excited" about it. Why is that?

For now, I'll take the Koenigsegg CCX... THAT car excites me. What's exciting about it? 9.9 @ 146 and 1.3 G's on the skidpad. Let's see the Veyron do THAT.

because we can't have one. trust me I would not kick the Veyron out of bed, by any means. the Veyron can stay ALL night long hell, all week..

so I guess Pink Floyd is still doing OK these days... :

The F1 was so fast that when customers told McLaren they wanted to race theirs at Le Mans, Murray created a stripped-out racing version that promptly went out and destroyed all-comers at its first attempt.

The car you’re looking at is more powerful than the standard road car. It is a racing F1 modified for road use by its owner Nick Mason, the drummer with Pink Floyd. More than 220lb lighter than the road F1, and with those tiresome engine race restrictors removed, it has 53bhp more than the road car. In short this is a car like no other you’ll find wearing a tax disc.
and, is this a lame photoshop or what....

Two very different cars? Yes...But theres no denying that they are two of the fastest production cars (top speed wise) in the world, and therefore a comparison between them is simply inevitable...You really can't call it

It has been claimed that the Veyron is so quick that it could allow the F1 to start first and reach 120mph and would still reach 200mph first. In fact this claim is unfair to the McLaren — but not by much. You can let the McLaren reach 65mph and the Veyron will still beat it to 190mph before leaving it for dust.

I agree 100%. While the specs and performance figures of the Veyron is very impressive, it really doesn't do much for me. It doesn't get my heart beating like an Enzo or Carrera GT or Ralph Lauren's F1 I saw in person on the highway. I think the weight and styling have a lot to do with it. I guess I prefer a more "raw" exotic car.

I guess I am in the minority,......or maybe alone on this one........but I think the Bugatti is beautiful. Its not the same super sleek and sexy look of a CCX or whatever,......but I like it equally as much.

One thing I think that should be kept in mind is that the Bugatti was limited from the start because it had to have a certain look/design,....then everything else was put in place. I bet it would rape even more had they had more freedom in terms of the look/design/aero aspects of the car. It is also limited to 253mph,... so it could go faster supposedly. I read online that it pulls 1.1 g's on the skidpad,.....not bad for a hogg of a car IMO.

Screw the CCX,..........give me a Zonda F any day of the week,..PURE SEX.

Your comment just made me think of something,..............IF I could ONLY have one supercar,........it wouldnt be an enzo or a veyron. Why you ask??? They have paddle shifting,.........I would want a Koenigsegg or Zonda or Carrera GT with a nice traditional manual,....good ole clutch pedal and shifter.

Here's the highlights: I was driving on I-684 in NY state near Bedford NY around 2pm on a Friday afternoon when a McLaren F1 pulled on the highway. I was driving my Z and a few minutes, the F1 pulled next to me. He looked over and reeved his engine, then took off. The McLaren took off like I've never seen anything before. I didn't bother chasing as it would be like me racing a hayabusa on a moped.

I did some research, and the driver looked exactly like Ralph Lauren, he got off at the Bedford NY exit (he has a house there) and the F1's license plate was the same as I saw in one of the pictures of RL's F1.

Probably the best car-related experience I ever had. Ralph Lauren trying to race me on the highway in his F1. The car is amazing looking in person, sounds amazing and is insanely fast.

Nick Mason - who owns the F1 LM in this article, as noted on pg1 - has quite a collection himself:

http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/art...245727,00.html

cliff notes: 40 cars, including Type 35 Bugatti, Jaguar D-Type, Maserati 250F, Birdcage, Ferrari 250GTO, 512S, F40.

Has been racing for 40 years, including 5 times at LeMans.

This quote is also totally awesome

"The other is the 250GTO. “I saw one racing at Goodwood in the early 1960s and thought it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. Years later I was able to buy one and it was only when I’d got the log book that I realised it was the same car."
