BMW M3 vs. Lexus IS-F
Wow, I leave on a long trip and I come back to "contoversy" about the IS-F.
Actually, I'm happy that two owners checked in to give their view. I have no doubt that the fast Lex is going to last 200k miles with no trouble. Wasn't aware of the changes for 2010. I wish I could get 27 mpg out of my V stock.....I can only do that with a tune, CAI, and lower pulley (only around a grand....thank G_d for old American iron....cheap to mod), voiding the drivetrain warranty in the process.
As far as the C63.....drove one.....

You totally miss the point. I did not post to justify or explain my ownership or how good the IS-F. There is no need for this.
I posted to help out the OP and the discussion as whole. I am done with this. Thanks everbody and have a great day!!
Hey Azine, wanted to know what is your overall opinion on these 2 cars. Consider the styling, reliability, roominess, performance, gas mileage, and depreciation value. I have a cousin who just got out of residency and was wondering which car is better. He wants it new or 2009 the latest...

As far as the C63, I couldn't find one within 500 miles to test drive when I was car shopping so I had to scratch it off the list. Just as well, I reckon.
I'm looking to purchase one in the next few months and I think the IS-F is winning right now.

Sorry for the old bump.
If you have any questions about the M3 let me know. Been driving one for over 4 years now.
Just curious, how come you leaning towards the IS-F?
M3 has been fairly reliable and im not trying to be biased either, magazine have stated its the most reliable BMW currently.
Then again I guess thats not saying much.

But yea, get something less practical if you have a daily driver. Viper would be cool!
How man miles are on your e90? warranty?
Decided against extended warranty.
Not worried about it though. Only thing that might go wrong is the idle control valve but its not that common. Also change the oil every 5-7k miles to prevent excessive rod bearing wear. Otherwise the complaints on the forums are very few.

Well just for a vote for the F in the reliability department I just rolled over 104k in my 2008 CPO which had 24k on it when I bought it 3 years and 1 month ago. I have only replaced the subwoofer and the water pump under warranty. The water pump which is a known issue on the 06-08 IS line. Also had a HID bulb go out and my battery die after 4 years of life. Other than that I have only done one set of brake pads cause I couldn't stand the dust of the factory ones and probably replacing rotors soon since it is still on the original set. Most of those are highway miles though.
I do someday want to own a BMW and experience one as I have loved driving my buddies 335is but at this time in my life I drive to much and wanted to have complete reliability for now.

Many think the way he does. The M3 is not a torque monster so it does not "feel" fast unless you learn how to drive it. Its the same way with the S2000.
Not easy to learn how to drive it from a simple test drive. I actually hated the car when i first drove it.
thanks fellas for the last replies.
M3 was the car i originally wanted to get. i guess i just expected more because the e46 m3 had 333hp, really nice interior for its years, ..so the m3 with 100hp, a newer model, i was just let down. its a beautiful car, the reliability rate on the s65 engine is quite good actually. also their transmission. i still want one now that the aftermarket has literally blew out of no where for that car.
lexus just has a lot of amenities that the bmw doesn't even offer. rear view camera, touch screen navi, step up gauges , led lights everywhere, front led lights, ...just a lot more going on. running a 12.8 stock didn't hurt either and getting over 400whp to the wheels with exhaust and headers with no tuning(can't tune toyotas) was a plus in my book as well since the 5.0 engine is not maxed out like the s65 engine.
Isf engine was built by yamaha, dry oil sump system, oil coolers for motor and tranny...just a good reliable engine. I beat on it everytime i drive it. there are really no known problems on this car. also Lexus does good will repairs for free for F owners if you are out of warranty. Really cheap to maintain this car.
