Unhappy Big Knock

I have a 1999 TL-P with 66k miles on it and when it has been sitting for a while, lets say over night, and you put it in reverse theres a big KNOCK. Its the normal noise the car makes when going into reverse only louder. After the first time it stops until I let the car sit for a few hours again. Any idea what this is? I posted this a while back in the TL forums but no one seemed to know so I posted it here to get everyones input. I am just afraid my tranny might be going

could be a tranny coverter lockup problem, but i would think you'd feel it in both directions...

I dont think its a problem. If i remember, it think its normal, from the hydraulic shocks. I actually had the same exact noise last night on my 04 tl

I use to own a 2000 TL-P and had the same issue. I did post this question as well but no one seemed to have any clue what i was talking about. Anyways, i have no idea, neither did anyone else, what this noise is, but i do know that the tranny is fine. The new owner of the car still has the same tranny, i was afraid of losing the tranny myself but never had any problems what so ever with it ( knock on wood). Check with the dealership and see if you need a new tranny or if you need to have the oil jet kit installed.

you can also try to just change the trans oil, maybe it got messed up and when it cools it makes everything stick so it all clinks when u shift it...
