Best tires for the buck?

I am trying to find a nice new set of tires for my car, but really don't know what I am looking for. I am not going to race, and they will not be used on the car in the winter, what are some good tires that you all have had experiences with?

Just put 4 of these on my CLs and love um. Got them for 120 a piece at Tire Kingdom with Road Hazard Warranty.

I've had the Kumho, Eagle LS and Yokohama Avids on my 00 Quest. Out of the three, the best price were the Kumhos and the best performance (i.e.: handlingwise were the Avids). That said, I just replaced my worn Avids with a new set of Kumhos last week.

I've had Kumho's Ecsta Supra 712 on my previous Accord (16") and now on my TSX (18"). Not having any other tire to compare to I would say they're good, and when I look at BMW or Lexus saying that their 18" tires (Bridgestone Potenza?) last only 15,000 miles, my Khumos seem like they will last far longer.

I've always liked the Dunlop D60A2, had them on a lot of my previous cars and have no complaints.

I have had good luck with Falken for budget tires. However, I would suggest you try tirerack.com and look at there user information, they have tons and I have bought several sets of tires using their user information studies and balancing performance/price/treadwear/noise and I have yet to be steered wrong. The studies have pointed me in unexpected directions for example I have an older SUV beater I use for rock climbing/mountain biking road trips so it sees a lot of highway time and a little minor off road, I ended up getting Firestone Destination LE tires, I would have NEVER picked this tire myself but it placed very close in the tirerack rankings to the Michelin LTX I was replacing and roughly half the price and I am very happy with the tire. One tire that I think is a good fit for what you want is the Conti Extreme Contact.

I loved the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 when I had my prelude and was living in the snowbelt.

Falkens are great, too. I used their Azenis tires strictly when I had my CL...but they wear out quick.

In my opinion the Bridgestone Potenza G009 is the Rodney Dangerfield of the tire world, it gets no respect. Its a great tire at a good price, with a lot of technology in it. They handle well, wear well, look good and come in at a fair price.

You didn't hear it from me, but Bridgestone is having a LARGE rebate program in about a month, its only $50 off a set of 4 G009's, but the higher models offer up to $100 off a set of 4 which brings there prices to VERY competitive levels.

And take ilitig8's advice.

That is how I've discovered and bought all my tires (except my Falkens.) I would spend some time researching and reading reviews, and would pick a set from that. It's how I found my bridgestones, which I actually bought from tirerack.

And its how I found the BFG T/A KO's I just put on my pathfinder last weekend.

I have the Falken Azenis now....I have about 15,000 miles on them and they are wearing fast. Brother has the Ziex and they are wearing pretty quickly too at 15,000, but not as fast as the Azenis. Good tires though, just doesn't last that long - I'm not driving the car hard either.

That is because Falkens are much softer tire designed more for racing then everyday street use. I started using the Azenis because I was autocrossing, and I decided I loved the characteristics of the tires so much it was worth having to buy a set of 4 on an anual basis...course I sold the car in Jan...so I don't have to worry about that anymore

Didn't Dunlop release the same tire with a different name? I could swear that I got a new set of these tires for my old G20 (right about 2 years ago) before it went to car heaven....

The D60 A2 was replaced with the SP Sport A2, it is similar but not the same tire.

What do you think about Toyo Tires?

If found some decent ones online here: http://www.edgeracing.com/tires/2253519/

Toyo Proxes 4 - $150 / tire

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my G. Great all season tires, but not cheap at around $200 each. On the other end, I have Avon M550 A/S on my xB and they are great for an all season tire too. Snow driving isn't so great, but then again it was only designed for "light snow driving". Priced at about $100, you can't go wrong.

Kumho's are pretty good for the money. The only problem is the name. I can practically hear someone saying "I thought these kum ho's were a bargain- lots of bang for the buck - but now I'm stuck with the worst case of gonnorrhea evAr!"

That's what I said....Although compared to other more superior tires I've driven with, they aren't as sticky in the rain as some other tires I've sampled. Same thing goes for the snow. It really is a strictly light snow capable tire. Anything more than a few inches and you're in trouble. I learned this in the last storm we had where we had over 12" dumped on us.
In the dry though, I have yet to hear any protesting from the tires in hard cornering. They are definately excellent in the dry.

I had EL42's on my G35x, replaced them after 2 weeks of them being on the car (read: BRAND NEW). Replaced them with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. The EL42's are ASS

Just got yokohama Avid V4's on my TSX. Here's review i wrote.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29174

60,000 mile warranty and only $104/tire for my TSX. Your TL tires maybe only like $2 more per tire.

If ur broke-a$$ and want great tires for the buck. I highly recommend you check out the Hancook K407 that I think distcount tire still sales.

I got (4) 205-55-16 all out the door for less then 200.00

I purchased these to replace my RE92's (bridgestones) and love them on my WRX. Well the wrx is AWD, but hell these SOBs are quite and I harly can make them break traction. Its really good traction in wet roads also.

I felt I made a great purchase.

I've got the old V4 (the 40K miles ones) and I'm looking to get the V4S (60K tire) some time next year..

One thing I did notice is that if not properly rotated, they tend to wear quicker on the front of a 6spd
