I usually use hess, but will also buy gas from stop and shop if I need gas when I'm in that part of town...

My decision is driven by price, with location and ease of access (traffic) coming into play at times...

One think I won't do is spend $1 to drive to another station in the next town in order to save 80 cents...

I've never gone to Costco. I'd like to give them a try but the line is always so god damn fucking long that I lose patience. And it isn't all that cheaper, if at all.

Around here, Costco gas cost about the same as Arco gas.

i just filled up at costco for the first time the other day cause I was there and the line wasn't too bad. I probably saved like a buck, but only cause my car only take 8-9 gallons to fill up. Didn't notice my car run any different.

If I had a big truck or something, it might make sense to wait in that line, but not for my car.

I usually go to chevron, cause their stations seem clean, and just happens there is one near my house, next to my work, and next to the gym. When I'm usually filling up like 8 gallons at a time, I really don't hunt for a good deal. In terms of quality, I just assume all the top teir are about the same.

The only thing i'd look for is if they are using an ethanol blend. I think some states it might vary. Here it's all 10% year round. I know some switch in the winter. I'm not too sure.

I dont think they sell 85 octane gas in the US. If they do, i have yet to see it. and if you really did run legit 85 gas, then your seriously hindering the engine.
