Best Gasoline to Purchase
I never put cheap gas in my car but what types of gas would you prefer to put in a CL-S? I've been using either Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate. I heard Sunoco was another great choice as well. The only reason why I'm asking is last week, I got some Texaco and the car isn't somewhat as fast as when I would use the other fuels.

I only use sunoco. I tried to search for it but can't find the post I did a while back about mileage with different stations. Sunoco seems to be very consistent with having the best mileage for me. Some people will disagree and tell you its all about the driver. If I remember correctly citgo was the worst mileage wise. I've since moved and can't find the paper I had with all the different mileage results. If I find it I'll post. Do a search and you might come up with it.

I have used the good stuff and the cheap stuff and they're all the same. So the station with the cheapest gas wins my business...

only top teir gas for my CL, which is usually either chevron or shell for me. I'll do 76 too, which ever is the cheapest.

That is only partly correct depending on the brand and also what region of the country will dictate what additives and the formula used for the gas. I'm in California and we have tougher standards than most of the US so our gas formula is different. Different brands put their own additives in and some don't put any at all. Shell works better than the others I've tried and I'm in tune with my cars performance. In different parts of the country Shell might not be the best because their formula is different than in California.

There ARE differences among gasoline brands.
I've seen some bad stuff happen to cars due to using cheap gas. The discount brands typically don't have the detergents that the premium brands contain and are not as helpful in preventing potential problems.
99% of the time, my car only drinks Shell V-Power. The other 1% is when I can't find a Shell station and I have to resort to BP/Amoco. Same with my GSX-R: V-Power only.

People.....additives are required by federal law. All gas brands have them. It's standardized. If anyone gets bad gas the gas is not what's at fault. It's the station. Several factors can cause a problem. Bad tanks, gas left in the tank too long, mixes of new & old gas, shady stations doing illegal things to gas to be cheap, etc.
True some brands add extra stuff that may or may not help more, but there's been no data to support it that I have seen. It's left open to debate.

I use Shell and BP. Car seems to get better mileage on Shell, but only minute, say 10 per tank. I also think they are the only ones around here that have 93, the rest have 91. I know 91 is sufficient, but why not get 93 for practically the same price?

I've been using Chevron for years, no complaints. Occasionally I'll use Shell but Chevron is only 1/2 a mile away so I usually go there. Arco prices are cheaper but they suck and so does their gas.

We have an Exxon gas station, and a Mobil gas station down the street... they should be the same though, right? Because I always thought it was "Exxon Mobil", but this station is just called Exxon. I found I had to fill up every 4-5 days when using the Exxon gas, and using shell gas, I can go around 7-8 days without filling up. I've only been driving to school and back, so I do see a difference in average mpg.

the only stations near me at 76 and Texaco. Mostly 76 because a few years ago they bought out like 80% of all the stations in the whole area...
by the way sucks that I can never find a station with more than 92 octane....

I've had 2 members of my family swear off Costco gas after it was suggested by mechanics that Costco gas or constant use of it had lead to their engine problems. I know its a generalization but I have lived long enough to know its not worth to save a few bucks if there is a remote chance it could be true.

I mainly use Chevron cus it is the closest and right across the street from the Quiktrip so they usually match their prices or at least get close, and have been using it for a long time now

I've never had a problem with Costco gas, which I use for the TL about 70% of the time. Used the Costco premium in the Camry V6 and Costco regular in the Odyssey pretty often too.
Then again, I haven't had any problems with Chevron, Shell or even ARCO gas either.
