beater car?
After the mishap I had parking my car at the train station's parking deck (came back to find my windshield all scratched up) I've decided to buy another beater car. I had a '99 Civic ex coupe that was stolen two weeks after buying the TSX earlier this year and since I didn't have theft insurance I got boned - anyway, even with insurance I don't want to deal with a car that will probably get stolen.
Sorry I rambled so much, but..other than Civics what else is good? 98-02 Accord?

Check on the list of cars least likely to get stolen, and get one of those (if theft and vandalism are your main worries). I know there's a list put out of which ones are higher risks, and I'm pretty sure there's more than one Honda listed (Civic for sure). Ask your insurance company. You'll probably be less of a target if you get something Toyota, Hyundai, etc, but would you even consider something like that? Maybe an older Subaru?

Ah, so is it the manual or auto's that have tranny issues? I thought it was only the 6cyl auto's, as much as I'd want to buy another manual my gf/family can't drive stick so this one will be an auto .. and I'm a cheapass so I'll be going for a 4cyl.

An AP1 owning friend of mine has a 6G Coupe 4cyl coupe 5MT as his beater and I have not heard any complaints about it thus far.
kabota: although no longer in the top 10, the 5G Accord has historically ranked pretty high as a theft item.

He said he didn't want a car that would get stolen.
I agree, 4G Maxima is a great option. Though in general it seems like a lot of older Japanese/American cars get broken into a lot. Someone broke into my cousin's early 90's Protege a month ago.

I had a 1996 Accord that was great....but!....at about 125,000 miles, it started to seem like I had to fix something for atleast $200-300 once a month. I just sold it with 136K miles on it for $4k
